Perhaps because JayaB could not dance as well as Rekha? There were 2-3 traditional dance songs if I remember correctly.
Also, wonder if Jaya cudve topped the chemistry between Rekha-Ashok. I used to always wonder how Dada Moni kept himself in check with Rekha all over him.
I think Sonam fits the role as a carefree girl who does not follow rules. She did a good job in Delhi 6. Who is playing Dina Pathak’s role which is as important as the lead’s role?
I think it is silly to compare this film to the original. It’s clearly intended to be a frothy film that uses the central conceit of the original rather than an earnest adaptation.
I love the first poster and I expect this to be a breezy feel-good chick flick filled with pretty clothes, much like Aisha. Sonam has grown up a bit since that film, and hopefully her performance here will be less shallow.
Given the amount of airtime Fawad Khan’s “Zindagi Gulzar Hai” has gotten on Zee’s “Zindagi” network, it’s probably the right time for this film… the posters seem completely uninspiring though.

the original is an absolutely wonderful film and it’s impossible for me to imagine this could be remotely close to it.

I have sometimes liked Sonam Kapoor but yeah she does this hyper act most of the time.

i actually didn’t think the original was on the same level as Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s genuine comedy classics

Agree satyam. It’s one of my favorite Hrishida films, which is saying a lot as I love every single film of his.

That movie was tailor made for Jaya Bhaduri but strangely Hrishida cast Rekha in it.

Don’t worry, Sonam will be combination of Rekha and Jaya in this one as she’s named Mili in this remake.
Ofcourse I’m kidding!

Its a good casting. Ratna rocked in her tv avataar as snooty mother in law. Sarabhai versus Sarabhai.

i liked her only in that film with Dhanush….Raanjhana – otherwise she is a non-glam / non-appealing girl for me…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wC9E5zxFwxg
