Abhishek home production with Prabhudeva

Top Tollywood writer Kona Venkat is set to foray into Bollywood. The writer narrated a story to Abhishek Bachchan and he loved it. Prabhudheva will direct the film, which may go on the floors in November.
Earlier, Salman Khan had remade Kona’s Telugu hit Ready in Hindi with the same title and it was a huge hit. “It’s a very new concept and he (Abhishek) liked it very much. He decided to produce the film himself,” says Kona Venkat.
On Wednesday, the writer met Abhishek and the actor finalised the project. “I travelled with Abhishek for the last one year and discussed the story, finally he gave the green signal,” he says, adding, “Abhishek asked me to narrate the story to Prabhudheva and he too was excited about it.”
Kona has also penned the story for the Sridevi-starrer Mom, which is currently being shot. After English Vinglish, Sridevi had not shown interest in any script till she came across this one. Boney Kapoor is producing the heroine-centric film.

Considering the way his movies are faring, this was the most logical choice. Producing a movie and starring in it. But why Prabhu Deva?
Whatever happened to that Sanjay Gupta movie?

He was supposed to do something with Prabhu Deva some years ago too. I’d take this any day over a Gupta film though that story keeps doing the rounds too.

a home production with Prabhud Deva was supposed to happen a number of years ago:
the Okkadu remake rumor was never confirmed and eventually the project never got launched anyway. This time it does seem that he liked the script before going to Prabhu deva.

wow..atlast.!!! He should have made a movie with Prabhu Deva 5 years ago..Excited for Abhi..Since he is producing, I’am sure he will keep the costs low too ( as he knows his market now).Hoping this would be success

This may be a make or break. Many struggling actors in the past – Kumar Gaurav, etc tried to produce their own films when they were not getting work. This however did not work for them.

“AB Corp has been looking to produce films for a long time and they have locked a few scripts, one of them being Prabhu’s. And it’s not a remake. The film is called Lefty, and when the director narrated it to the Bachchans, they liked the idea”.

The two to team up for a movie soon
Prabhudheva is known to breathe life into actors’ careers. Salman Khan was being written off by detractors when the duo came together in Wanted. Akshay Kumar’s biggest hit to date — Rowdy Rathore — was also directed by him. And now it looks like Abhishek Bachchan has decided to entrust the South director with the task of giving him a big solo hit.
Abhishek was part of the blockbusters Bol Bachchan (2012), Dhoom:3 (2013) and Happy New Year (2014) and this year, his Housefull 3 did great business at the box-office. The one thing common between these films is that they are multi-starrers. His only solo release in recent years — All Is Well (2015) — didn’t work at the box-office.
The actor has not signed any new films because he is playing the waiting game. He can afford to wait and say yes to the right project. He won’t be part of the Sarkar franchise (his character died in Sarkar Raj). Also, there’s buzz that Ranveer Singh may replace him in Dhoom:4. And while he has been busy with his various sports ventures, he has a take-it-easy plan for his film career.
According to an industry source, Abhishek hasn’t signed a film in a very long time because he is planning to focus on returning as a solo hero. And the man chosen for the job is Prabhudheva. The script is almost ready. In the film, AB will play the role of a slightly eccentric man. Being a Prabhudheva movie, it is expected to have loads of action and dance.

If the script isn’t ready, it probably means that it is going to be quite a while before we see Abhishek again.
His acting career is probably riding on this movie. But, I guess even if this doesn’t work, he may go back for a couple of supporting roles to hang on until he goes for another solo. It has been his career pattern lately. However, time is running out and it is going to be tougher to bounce back.
I still think that unfortunately, he may never get back to his 2005 position again.

Filmmaker Prabhudheva chose not to divulge details about his next directorial, starring actor Abhishek Bachchan, but said the film will be an out and commercial project.
There were reports that Abhishek will team up with Prabhudheva for a solo hero project which will have him play a “slightly eccentric man”.
When asked if he is in talks with Abhishek, the 43-year-old director told PTI, “I can’t talk about that now. It will happen soon and then we will talk about it. I’ll be directing it. It will be an out and out commercial film.”

Abhishek teaming up with Prabhudeva is apt…at this point in his career he needs both Prabhu and Devaa/i> more than anything else!
If his career were a Bollywood film made in the 60s, we’d have the doctor pronounce:

snarky comments aside, it’s not the brightest move that Abhishek’s made (will not be the first one either!).
Prabhudeva’s out and out commercial efforts have been Action Jackson and R…Rajkumar in the recent past. They were both beyond pathetic to say the least.

Abhishek Bachchan’s next, Lefty is a Prabhu Dheva directorial. It’s about a normal guy who turns into his city’s saviour, when circumstances demand it.
Kona Venkat, who formerly wrote Ready and has scripted Boney Kapoor’s Mom, is writing the screenplay of Lefty. “I was signed by Abhishek three years ago. His friend heard a one-line narration from me in New York and told him about it. Abhishek asked me to come for a narration to his office. He loved the script. It’s a science fiction thriller, something like Ghajini and is about an eccentric guy who is left-handed, just like Abhishek is in real life. Prabhu Dheva came on board this year.”
Kona adds, “Abhishek’s character doesn’t have super powers, but his character becomes powerful. He will build his body for the film as he needs to have a certain kind of body type for it.”
The film goes on floors next year and will be an AB Corp production.

This is surprising and not sure if he’s been working out if the movie starts in February. It takes 6 months to year to make a great body when he’s never been working out all his life. I would be fine if he fights just as Dhoom or Run instead of trying out the Ghajini mode.

Not sure how aamir builds his body so fast like he did for ghjini and dangal becsuse normally his body is average built.
Salman has been same size for very long. Srk has lean body and will work out to show cuts for some movies but his body doesn’t get hulk like.
I think aamir is injecting a lot of steroids.
I hope abhi doesn’t do that. Just get little lean.

In mid-January, Abhishek Bachchan will flag off his next film, Lefty, which he is co-producing with friend Bunty Walia and will be directed by Prabhudheva, with a month-long schedule in Hyderabad.
A source revealed to Mirror, “The film will see Abhishek play a left-handed character (considered inauspicious by some in India) who is on a mission to save his city. A regular guy in the world’s eye, he has special powers that help him sense trouble. Abhishek and Prabhudheva met last week to discuss details of the shoot. The team will leave for a recce in Hyderabad where the story is set, sometime this week.”
The makers are looking for a relatively new face to play Abhishek’s love interest in the hero-centric project.

Mirror (December 20) had reported about Abhishek Bachchan’s next, the Prabhudheva-directed ‘Lefty’, kicking off by mid-January. Now, we hear the schedule has been pushed ahead as the makers are still looking for a leading lady. A new face will be cast for the part and the auditions are underway.
A source reveals, “Besides Hyderabad where the film will be shot, a Lucknow schedule has also been added. Recce is complete and shooting will kick off once the principal cast is finalised. Abhishek, who is also a co-producer on the project, is taking personal interest in every aspect of the film and recently made a quick trip to Lucknow to see the locations before taking off to Dubai for a New Year break with wife Aishwarya and daughter Aaradhya.”

Prabhudeva’s next directorial venture in Hindi will feature Abhishek Bachchan in a comedy titled Lefty. In the film, Abhishek, who is left-handed in real life just like his legendary father, will play a quirky character nicknamed Lefty.
Confirming the project, Prabhu says, “We’re still working on the script. Meanwhile, I am back in Chennai.” Prabhu, who was in Mumbai for the last four years directing back-to-back Hindi films, is now back home in Chennai for a while to shoot for two Tamil films.
