She’s funny like her sister. I wouldn’t be surprised with a KJo BOI connection. The whole list is troll worthy. Akshay’s got to be higher than SRK, the latter has better opening but his films are flopping! Utter nonsense.
Like Donald Trump, like Boris Johnson…there are famous things for the wrong reasons. On a Richter Scale, BOI doesn’t even register as an earthquake. It’s like the vibrating footsteps of Kangana walking in at a KJo party.
Total Dhamaal had a huge television premiere with the sixth highest rating of all time and it is the highest ever premiere for a comedy film edging past the numbers of Golmaal Again. The film had a box office total of 150 crore nett apprx but is sure to do find an even bigger audience on television.
Dhamaal and Double Dhamaal were huge hits on television and this film is likely to go one step further and the next few ratings will tell exactly how bit it will become. The film is sure to have a life after its theatrical run. the film was released one week after the media rated Gully Boy and it was trashed but it has proved to be one up at the box office over Gully Boy and as far as longetivity is concerned then Total Dhamaal is on a different level as it continues to find an audience and the less said about Gully Boys post theatrical the better.

Indias Most Wanted and PM Narendra Modi have opened to dull collections with the latter having the edge as Indias Most Wanted did not have any morning shows and the film opened post 11 pm. The occupancy is very low for both films but PM Narendra Modi has the lead in terms of collections till 1pm.
It remains to be seen what happens over the day and which film comes out on top but at the moment it looks like PM Narendra Modi will have better collections though reports are better for Indias Most Wanted but it could that comes into play tomorrow. Whatever the collections and which ever film is better the fact will be collections will be very low and both will need huge growth.
De De Pyaar De had better collections in the morning on its 8th day compared to the new releases but it was Alladin that is had best start and leads the race this Friday though De De Pyaar De is sure to be strong in the evening and it could be a two way fight between Alladin and De De Pyaar De for top film this Friday.
Haha right now I’d do no deal. Start with a blank sheet and negotiate everything from start. Full house (stay) and halfway house (last few months worth of proposals) are waste of time.

Aladdin comfortably beat the two Hindi films as it collected in the 4-4.25 crore nett to be the top film this Friday. It beat the new releases Indias Most Wanted and PM Narendra Modi and it also beat the holdover De De Pyaar De. The collections of Aladin are similar to the two Hindi films put together.
The growth of Aladdin should be huge on Saturday as it is a film for kids and families so multiplexes will show huge jumps. The growth is sure to be more than the Hindi films even though they have lower collections.
PM Narendra Modi won the race on day one between the Hindi films as it collected in the 2.25-2.50 crore nett while Indias Most Wanted collected 1.75-2 crore nett. The former probably helped by the election win yesterday as was better in the Hindi markets.
Both films hardly had anything to get the audience in to the the theatres as Indias Most Wanted looked a dry film while PM Narendra Modi was a biopic of a polition with mass elements stuck in when not warranted. The collections of three films are as follows.
Alladin: 4-4.25 crore
Indias Most Wanted: 1.75-2 crore
PM Narendra Modi: 2.25-2.50 crore
Alladin is probably the only one which can do something at the box office this week out of these films.
Afghan filmmaker Shahrbanoo Sadat’s Directors’ Fortnight title Parwareshgah (The Orphanage), awash with Bachchan mania, brought the strains of retro Hindi film songs to the French Riviera even as India had a quiet year at the 72nd Cannes Film Festival. The Orphanage, set during the final years of Soviet occupation and the advent of the Mujahideen, weaves these musical numbers into a simple, unadorned narrative about a teenage Afghan boy who sells movie tickets on the black market and seeks escape from his troubles in Bollywood-inspired fantasies. His room in a Soviet-run orphanage is plastered with pinups of Amitabh Bachchan.
The young protagonist of the film, the second part of a planned pentalogy based on the unpublished diaries of the 29-year-old director’s friend Anwar Hashimi, projects himself into movie scenes featuring the Hindi cinema megastar in a bid to make his life a little less ordinary.

Aladdin did well on day two as collections jumped up over 50% and the film collected 6.25 crore nett taking its total to 10.25 crore nett plus. The collections of Aladdin over the first two days are as follows.
Friday – 4,15,00,000 apprx
Saturday – 6,25,00,000 apprx
TOTAL – 10,35,00,000 apprx
PM Narendra Modi showed growth of around 30% to collect 3 crore nett on its second day and take its two day figures to 5.25 crore nett plus. PM Narendra Modi- the film has performed decently, it seems, It trended alright in the week end.
It has performed better than I personally expected. If Monday is around its Friday range (and it looks possible), then it has a chance of being a BO earner.
De De Pyaar De Holds Well On Second Monday

De De Pyaar De held well on its second Monday collecting 2.50 crore nett which is just 20% down from Friday and just 55% down from last Monday. The film did not see huge growth over the weekend but is set to do well over the weekdays and is probably looking at a second week of 22 crore nett.
De De Pyaar De has grossed almost 73 crore nett till date and the two week business of the film will be close to 80 crore nett but the film will probably be a SEMI HIT as Bharat will cut its run short next Wednesday and keep it in th 90 crore or if it gets some screens post Bharat then could edge past the 90 crore nett mark.
The film has so far grossed around 24.50 crore nett in Mumbai and the Delhi / UP total is 18 crore nett apprx. The collections of De De Pyaar De till date are as follows.

Aladdin has held well on Monday as it grossed 3.25-3.50 crore nett dropping around 20% from the Monday. This has taken the total of the film to a decent 21.25 crore nett and the week should end near the 30 crore nett mark. The second week will struggle due to the release of Bharat but it will get the second weekend and that should be enough to make it at least and Average fare. The collections of Aladdin over the first weekend are as follows.
Monday – 3,35,00,000 apprx
TOTAL – 21,25,00,000 apprx
PM Narendra Modi held well on Monday with a drop of just 20% but as the weekend was so bad it really had to better than the Friday. The film has a pretty wide release and occupancy is low so despite this hold it is still hard to see the film going far though a big hold on the second Friday could change that. The film has held on Monday but the aim of the film is to try and avoid flop status due to the dull weekend and overall low numbers. The first week numbers could go to around 16-17 crore nett. The collections of PM Narendra Modi till date are as follows.
Monday – 1,85,00,000 apprx
TOTAL – 11,45,00,000 apprx
Indias Most Wanted fell badly on Monday as it collected under 1 crore nett. The film has 8.25 crore nett collections till now and will end the week at around 10.25 crore nett and that will be it for the film with hardly any collections coming post the first week. Generally all the films being screened held well on Monday barring this one. The collections of Indias Most Wanted till date are as follows.

Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) founder Seeman was denied entry into the US, when he arrived at the New York Airport on Saturday morning. According to party sources, immigration officials allegedly cited his pro-LTTE leanings, which in their view was a ‘threat to national security’.

There are two to three major Hindi films left this quarter and so far there have been 10 successful films getting AVERAGE or above status. Uri – The Surgical Strike is easily the biggest hit of the year as it went on a huge run weeks. It is the only really big HIT of the year and the second half really nees to have more SUPER HIT and BLOCKBUSTER film.
The first event film of the year will come next week with Bharat and is one of the releases this year which has the potential to get around 3 crore footfalls. Whether it can get or any film can get is a different story as its becoming harder to get the wider audience out to the cinemas at present.
Uri – The Surgical Strike is also the only film to do a share of 100 crore plus which is huge for this film but not that huge looking at the wider perspective. If Bharat was to do a 100 crore share it will probably NOT be a HIT film and have to settle for AVERAGE / SEMI HIT status. If Bharat can get a share of 150 crore plus it will give hope for the other big films also as its been a year since the last big one which was Sanju almost a year back.

Shankar Mahadevan has taken the revolutionary step of moving out of the ambitious Saaho at this late stage when the film is in post-production.
“The music company wanted to include songs from other composers. So we decided to step out as we only do projects where we are the sole composers,” says the composer of hit movie soundtracks like Dil Chahta Hai, Rock On, Kal Ho Naa Ho and Don.
In the recent past, music composers like Jatin-Lalit and Pritam had protested about bringing multiple composers in a single film.
Now, for the first time Shankar Mahadevan has let the producers know that the creative efforts of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy cannot be tampered with.
“For any film soundtrack, there has to be a thread of common creativity, which binds the score. That’s what we believe,” Shankar tells Subhash K Jha. “In the past, you had a Madan Mohan film soundtrack or a Shankar-Jaikishan soundtrack. No guests composers were allowed in.”
Well, for the film Dillagi, SEL worked with multiple composers. There were Jatin-Lalit, Anand Milind and Sukhwinder Singh along with SEL. And Viju Shah was doing the BG score.
I just guess SEL are willing to make less compromises now than during their earlier days.

Aladdin will do 35 cr net total as compared to the 20 cr totals of the new bollywood releases.
Did not expect Aladdin to do better than DDPD this weekend, which in turn has done better than recent kjo releases.

Endgame has crossed $800M domestically this weekend, while Aladdin had $200M+ worldwide haul in first 3 days.
In India, Endgame made 370 cr or so, while SOTY2 is finishing at 70 cr or so nett totals.

It has performed better than I personally expected. If Monday is around its Friday range (and it looks possible), then it has a chance of being a BO earner.

De De Pyaar De Holds Well On Second Monday

De De Pyaar De held well on its second Monday collecting 2.50 crore nett which is just 20% down from Friday and just 55% down from last Monday. The film did not see huge growth over the weekend but is set to do well over the weekdays and is probably looking at a second week of 22 crore nett.
De De Pyaar De has grossed almost 73 crore nett till date and the two week business of the film will be close to 80 crore nett but the film will probably be a SEMI HIT as Bharat will cut its run short next Wednesday and keep it in th 90 crore or if it gets some screens post Bharat then could edge past the 90 crore nett mark.
The film has so far grossed around 24.50 crore nett in Mumbai and the Delhi / UP total is 18 crore nett apprx. The collections of De De Pyaar De till date are as follows.

Friday – 3,25,00,000 apprx
Saturday – 4,50,00,000 apprx

Aladdin has held well on Monday as it grossed 3.25-3.50 crore nett dropping around 20% from the Monday. This has taken the total of the film to a decent 21.25 crore nett and the week should end near the 30 crore nett mark. The second week will struggle due to the release of Bharat but it will get the second weekend and that should be enough to make it at least and Average fare. The collections of Aladdin over the first weekend are as follows.
Monday – 3,35,00,000 apprx
TOTAL – 21,25,00,000 apprx
PM Narendra Modi held well on Monday with a drop of just 20% but as the weekend was so bad it really had to better than the Friday. The film has a pretty wide release and occupancy is low so despite this hold it is still hard to see the film going far though a big hold on the second Friday could change that. The film has held on Monday but the aim of the film is to try and avoid flop status due to the dull weekend and overall low numbers. The first week numbers could go to around 16-17 crore nett. The collections of PM Narendra Modi till date are as follows.
Monday – 1,85,00,000 apprx
TOTAL – 11,45,00,000 apprx
Indias Most Wanted fell badly on Monday as it collected under 1 crore nett. The film has 8.25 crore nett collections till now and will end the week at around 10.25 crore nett and that will be it for the film with hardly any collections coming post the first week. Generally all the films being screened held well on Monday barring this one. The collections of Indias Most Wanted till date are as follows.

I saw him for the first time on the sands of Pochina, a small village in the Rajasthan desert, a 2 hour wild drive from the city of Jaisalmer, where I had just arrived along with some of the other members of the film on shoot , my second film ‘Reshma aur Shera’ ..
The legendary Action Master and Director, Khanna Saheb was conducting a dummy rehearsal for the scenario which involved Sunil Dutt Saheb the leading man of the film, being beaten up by the negative character of the village .. and he was demonstrating the action on a stand in for the leading man ..
The negative character was beating the leading man with a thin whip like stick, and the leading man was taking it all in and not retaliating ..
Khanna Saheb was using a stand in for the leading man and was renowned for his authenticity when conducting stunts .. he was lashing the stand in, whip like and with each lash I could see the pain and agony on the stand ins face, but he continued to complete the scene dummy rehearsal, to perfection ..
The stand in getting the lashing was Veeru Devgan ..
This morning we lost him ..

Seeman reaches New York, denied entry
Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) founder Seeman was denied entry into the US, when he arrived at the New York Airport on Saturday morning. According to party sources, immigration officials allegedly cited his pro-LTTE leanings, which in their view was a ‘threat to national security’.
Curiously, there was no problem when Seeman obtained his visa a month ago and he duly cleared his immigration checks in Chennai. But the minute he arrived in NYC from Dubai, he was allegedly stopped, Ayyanathan said. “When the Tamils who had come to receive him queried why he was not let in, they were told that he was deemed a ‘threat to national security’ because of our party’s leanings,” alleged Ayyanathan. He claimed that the Union government must have sent a directive to the US to spike Seeman’s visit; a sentiment shared by most other cadre.

There are two to three major Hindi films left this quarter and so far there have been 10 successful films getting AVERAGE or above status. Uri – The Surgical Strike is easily the biggest hit of the year as it went on a huge run weeks. It is the only really big HIT of the year and the second half really nees to have more SUPER HIT and BLOCKBUSTER film.
The first event film of the year will come next week with Bharat and is one of the releases this year which has the potential to get around 3 crore footfalls. Whether it can get or any film can get is a different story as its becoming harder to get the wider audience out to the cinemas at present.
Uri – The Surgical Strike is also the only film to do a share of 100 crore plus which is huge for this film but not that huge looking at the wider perspective. If Bharat was to do a 100 crore share it will probably NOT be a HIT film and have to settle for AVERAGE / SEMI HIT status. If Bharat can get a share of 150 crore plus it will give hope for the other big films also as its been a year since the last big one which was Sanju almost a year back.

Shankar Mahadevan has taken the revolutionary step of moving out of the ambitious Saaho at this late stage when the film is in post-production.
“The music company wanted to include songs from other composers. So we decided to step out as we only do projects where we are the sole composers,” says the composer of hit movie soundtracks like Dil Chahta Hai, Rock On, Kal Ho Naa Ho and Don.
In the recent past, music composers like Jatin-Lalit and Pritam had protested about bringing multiple composers in a single film.
Now, for the first time Shankar Mahadevan has let the producers know that the creative efforts of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy cannot be tampered with.
“For any film soundtrack, there has to be a thread of common creativity, which binds the score. That’s what we believe,” Shankar tells Subhash K Jha. “In the past, you had a Madan Mohan film soundtrack or a Shankar-Jaikishan soundtrack. No guests composers were allowed in.”

Well, for the film Dillagi, SEL worked with multiple composers. There were Jatin-Lalit, Anand Milind and Sukhwinder Singh along with SEL. And Viju Shah was doing the BG score.
I just guess SEL are willing to make less compromises now than during their earlier days.
