This looks like a regular Salman Khan film. Wonder how much it can collect in present situation? Roohi did 25 cr or so. Kong vs Godzilla did 50 cr (business mainly from south).
Even in the pre covid era this illiterate pos would have met the same fate as D3. Good riddance theaters are shut for now. Hopefully by August we’d have better films like Sooryavanshi & 83 in theaters even if its 50% occupancy. They might do 75-100 cr if the situation’s like Jan by then.

Kickass 😂 Dabangg 1s first entry fight sequence itself is more kickass than the whole of Wanted. Not that Dabangg’s a classic but at least its a guilty fun 😉

“3 clean weeks on christmas with 4 national holidays in first 10 days”
This will help any film, especially if the film is good.
I used to make this argument all the time here but was always shot down by few members here.
Holidays especially the one like christmas/new year where kids are out of school for 10 days and there’s a festive mood for good 10 days and add 3 weeks of clean run, how does that not help a film that is good???
a bad film which is bound to make 100 crore, will end up making 125 crore if it has “3 clean weeks on christmas with 4 national holidays in first 10 days”.
Yes I agree a good film will benefit from holidays etc. But it’s a good film. It’s like it’s reward for being a good film.
Bigger bonuses get paid to people who deserve it – they worked hard, delivered on their promise etc. It’s simply how the world works.
No one is NOT allowing one to make a good movie.
The point is, having a “3 clean weeks on christmas with 4 national holidays in first 10 days” helps a film collection.
Ask any investor if they want 100 or 125 crore from a bad film.
And my original point that it can do “wonder” for a good film stands.
The topic wasn’t if one should or shouldn’t, can or can’t make a good film. The point is having a “3 clean weeks on christmas with 4 national holidays in first 10 days” helps a film collection.
Exactly, he created that event. Similarly Aamir created chrismass slot for his movies otherwise people used to release big budget movies on diwali. Eid is like homecoming for Salman although his biggest hit released in Christmas season.
No complete lockdown happening anywhere although AP, TN & Kerala are the only running theaters. Radhe should have waited till July. The trailers a lot lot worse than Sooryavanshi.
What’s really bothering me is the trailer views; for a film so big, it’s only 3M!! That’s outrageously low, but the likes are 350K, strangely high number vis-à-vis the views. But if the views are 3M, it’s bad news for Bhai. The fall may be as dramatic as the resurgence.
Manmohan Desai’s crass overrated 70s entertainers are in a big way responsible for the rise of junkie b grade film makers like Rohit Shetty & Prabhu Deva in Hindi cinema. Nome of them show the flair & narrative fluidity of a Prakash Mehra or Yash Chopra who gave us classic memorable masala templates like Zanjeer, Deewar, MKS, Trishul, Laawaris, Chandni, Lamhe & Silsila.
Why wasn’t than everyone able to create success that Desai did? I’m from that era. There were many producer/director who tried to use same formula and failed miserably during that era.
Desai didn’t give rise to makers like rohit or prabhudeva. How are their films even remotely similar to Desai?
Which one of Rohit or Prabhudeva film are similar to Desai films like Challia, Roti, Dharam Veer, Amar Akbar Anthony, Aa gale lag ja, Parvarish, Naseeb, etc…
You’re probably looking at his tailend last couple films and judging based on that.
Yes, Desai films were little loony but he was master at making fast paced films with all kind of masala and not let you off hook. He created a world that people got sucked into from the first scene to the last. From late 60s to early 80s. Yes, after Coolie (even that was little off) it was down hill for desai but up to Naseeb, it was great.
Loony masala films is what i’m referring to. Farah & Sajid Khan have repeatedly confessed to taking inspiration from him. They might not have garnered the same success but attempting to recreate mindless content itself is a disaster recipe. AAA, Naseeb, Coolie, Suhaag, Toofan are few of the most embarrassing films of AB in the 70s-80s era in my opinion.
Have you actually watched Desai films? It’s a disgrace to even suggest that what sajid khan makes is even remotely same as what Desai had made. farah understood some masala elements that she had applied to MHN and OSO.
And you’re lumping AAA, Naseeb, Suhaag with Toofan.
I think you fix a position and then just generalize everything around it to suit your point.
That’s kind of like saying yash chopra is a bad film maker who made films bad films like silsila and jab tak hain jaan. When in fact, silsila and jthj are nowhere near same film.
Anyone remotely following AB would know it was Zanjeer & Deewar that brought the angry young man persona on screen. These films elevated him to superstar status well before AAA. If you’re talking about comedy, Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s far superior Chupke Chupke gave the audience ample hint of his acting range. Crediting a silly film like AAA for ABs superstardom is misguiding. Its Desai who gained out of casting AB in AAA. Not the other way round.
You don’t really have to be an AB follower to know that Janzeer and Dewaar gave angry young man image to AB.
I don’t think you lived thru or were old enough when AAA released to know what kind of impact it had on hindi land and movies made after it. reading article online is one thing and actually living thru it is very different.
Well yes I wasn’t born yet but if the post AAA commercial Hindi cinema has anything to go by, I’m sure the effects of that senseless movie were disastrous and horrendous in equal measure. Especially considering the 80s were the worst ever decade in commercial entertainment and the 90s had imbecile family dramas and the lesser spoken about the post Ghajini/Wanted age of Hindi cinema, the better. Despite being born slightly later than the 70s, give me the 60’s and early 70’s commercial Hindi cinema anyday over the Manmohan Desai and his prodigies rubbish. Fyi I do not read media journals. I feel they give too much weightage to garbage film makers like Desai, Ghai, Barjatya, Johar and Rakesh Roshan (lived through the era of all except Desai).
Any movie being a cocktail of different genres is a masala film even if one genre might be the more dominant over the others. Chennai Express is a comedy masala film while Singham is an action masala film, they both are masala films nevertheless. Masala genre is not a specific defined genre like the rest. Even Hirani films are masala films courtesy their melodramatic commercial elements.
But what multiple genres are present in these three? It’s straightforward romantic melodrama. Just because they have a few comedy scenes doth make them masala.
And yet BOI quotes this pungent pos as a satellite television blockbuster based on data from unconfirmed sources for a movie that never had a theatrical release. But then these are folks who called Saaho & Race 3 as India’s version of Skyfall & Fallout based on their so called “satellite” numbers. I guess they’ve put their own satellites to orbit the earth and magnify anything that’s stinky, disgustingly rape happy (crowning jewel in India’s pride Rajamouli saar’s Vikramarkudu aka Lousy Rathore), full of sexist crass jokes and nauseating Thalaiva action sequences 😀
The same data source has been in use since last 10 years.
It is released every week.
Like every thing in India from EVM to Vaccines…it is a fashion to question the credibility if it doesnt suit the mindset.
And these figures shows popularity and not quality.
Instead of talking about former which sadly you cannot do Shivaay and Marcus…you drum the latter.
Sources need to be quoted instead of making blind statements. Are you one of the admins at boi or something? Considering your devotion to this garbage site.
Laxmii Is Outright BLOCKBUSTER on Satellite
Thursday 22 April 2021 10.00 IST
Box Office India Trade Network
Laxmii confirmed its BLOCKBUSTER status on satellite as it recorded a record third screening of 1 crore plus impressions. Only Bahubali – The Conclusion has managed a 1 crore plus number on its third screening. Laxmii had a huge premiere but they way its holding is pretty insane especially as the content of the film looked mainly for Maharashtra, Gujarat and the Central belt.
The film did not get a theatrical release but got big numbers on digital but its these satellite numbers which confirm the acceptance of the public for the film. A lot was said about the film mainly in a negative way but the public is watching the film in a big way. At the time of release there was no theatrical to counteract the negativity but now satellite has put the record straight.
The film is on par with Housefull 4 after three screenings and Housefull 4 is the biggest outright Hindi blockbuster (not counting the Bahubali films) on satellite in recent times . Below are the figures for first three screenings of Housefull 4 and Laxmii. The number is the impressions which is basically the number of television sets which viewed the film.
Laxmii was expected to maul Radhe. Its turning out to be a monster on television with extraordinary trending, despite lacking the quality thats usually is present in all Akki’s film since 2016 and when he became No 1 star in Bollywood.
Few records now since becoming No 1-
1. 1000 cr + nett gross and 750 cr+ nett in one claendar year
2. No 1 indian actor in forbes
3. Indian today no 1 star
4. No 1 bollywood brand across all research
5. No 1 and No 2 television slots and 3 out of top 5
6. OTT record for 200,000 new subscribers for Disney
7. No 1 ranking in Ormax since 3 years
8. Highest advertisement time on televisio
9. Queue of directors and producers with 16 projects on offer every month since last 2 years
10. Preferred star of all big banners and producers in India with multiple film contract.
11. 3 movies ready to release, 3 completing its shoot and 3 ready to be announced.
Only Elon Musk and Akshay Kumar has outperformed during Covid.
Nothing to celebrate here. This junk being consumed in large numbers by Indian viewers is a sign of worry, not to feel happy for business masquerading as filmmakers.
The point is that now Akshay’s junk is being consumed on TV. Tomorrow Salman’s junk (Radhe) will be consumed on TV with similar numbers. Nothing to feel happy about if you are a cinema lover.
This is pandemic time. Depressing times when most are starved of entertainment, specially new movie releases. Radhe will also do well on digital and satellite like Laxmii did.
Ok, i get your point. Right now Akshay’s crap will sell more than Salman’s crap on TV. Nice. And you are entitled to celebrate this crap-fest of H4, Laxmii and whatnot.
This superstar became so big since 2010 that entire industry has to act in front of him. Many love him deeply, mostly hate him passionately. Not only his last 3 films hv underperformed, but his physique has also gone for a toss. He is most desperate now than ever to remain at top https://t.co/qQ47b9MP4U

It will take a few more years for sallu to become totally irrelevant like srk at present. Tiger 3 will probably be his last superhit/blockbuster; his CE moment before it all fades away.
And like SRK ruined his body and face with a six pack in Om Shanti Om, Salman seems to have lost total control over his weight post Sultan. Just shocking how inconsistent his shape is, even in the same movie.
Will be interesting to see the amount of market penetration that pay per view can do with Radhe. Considering it will do nothing in theaters in the times of virtual lockdown, can it garner 1 cr views in pay per view format? That will be roughly 300 cr gross revenue for Zee.
Zee has acquired theatrical (India + Overseas), Satellite, Digital and Music rights for 230 crores. Salman’s already made a 100 crore profit. I’d assume Radhe makes as much as Dabangg 3 overseas, it’s already some 50 crores. It seems the film is already in safe territory.
Sallu ka dhaaga khol diya Sonup ne. I do agree with everything what he is saying. But i know that this is probably Salman’s best now. He cannot do more.
Naveen, let’s see how well “Salman’s best now” does against Akshay’s recent. Shall we compare the likes and views of Seeti Maar vs Burj Khalifa? Both films were supposed to clash anyway.
Seeti Maar has done 21.3 Million views in 24 hours on YouTube with 583K likes, beating Ghungroo, Jai Jai Shiv Shankar and Burj Khalifa to be the 5th most popular and 2nd most liked hindi song (non Dil Bechara) on YouTube within 24 hours of release.
The fans and common junta seem to have accepted the song. Another chartbuster (most from Reshmaiyya) can boost the hype enough for it to overcome the sheer horridness of the trailer.
As for the film, if we’re seeing Bhai’s decline, it’s probably Bhai’s Don 2. Unless the God’s Child will defy expectations once again.
I think Radhe will do well in PVOD format unless it is really stingingly terrible. Bollywood producers have really missed the trick here. Anything half decent will be lapped up in home and phones by everyone in such depressing times. Even Laxmii did well on digital and satellite. There shud have been more big budget releases since Tanhaji in the paid per view format. Instead Bollywood producers have been postponing the films indefinitely.
Revenue from paid per view may not be same as theatrical business from pre-covid days. But considering all the revenue streams available, producers and OTT giants can easily sail through with decent profits in paid per view format.
Salman shud get some claps for going first with the paid per view format. If it does okay, i am sure Sooryavanshi and 83 will follow.
If Radhe turns out even a bit decent (2 stars), it’d be a shame that it didn’t crush Laxmii on Eid. Such a missed opportunity to make Naveen stop spamming about how Akshay is No.1 :
Relax. Even “if” Radhe had done better than Laxmii , some other Akki film woyld have bettered Radhe.
Only way Slaman can beat the Akki juggernaut if he gives a 300+ blockbuster every year and clearly Radhe is not from the day it was announced.
Remember in the last clash Dabangg2 Vs GOOD newzz…Akshay walked away with critical and commercial acclaim. So salman has to first catch up and not the other way.
++++++++++++++++++
And what is this cyber bully on me Marcus?
Do i complain about your comments.
I post for my pleasure.
I also read here what i like.
I dont read half of your stuff.
“Salman shud get some claps for going first with the paid per view format”
I think Salman blinked second after Laxmii’s success.
Akshay really set the ball rolling here.
This similtaneous theatrical release is bull crap. 90% theatres are closed in the country. So what release? 🤣
Till a month ago Bhai was all about theatre mein tabhi aayenge when people are safe.
Abbhi bhai aa raha hai in the most unsafe environment.
Koi strategy nahin hai. Movie would have flopped in theatre.
Laxmii chal gayi….so Radhe is next.
Not everything that Akshay does is pioneering to sane minds. Laxmii was a medium budget film. Whatever success it got on digital and satellite, it did not encourage any big budget films to come directly on OTT. Radhe is the first biggie to come on PVOD, its not a direct OTT release. Sooryavanshi cud have done so on 30th april. But chose not to, and is playing the waiting game for longer than Radhe.
I only showed the torch to you when you claimed (knowing that theatres are closed ) that this last resort decision to save face by salman is actually clap worthy.
This trailer looks total garbage but unfortunate part is it is not releasing in cinemas otherwise would have attracted audience in single screens at least.
Namashkar Bhaiyon Behno..
Hope everyone’s been staying safe!
Been ages since visiting out here. Glad to read comments by everyone and see that most old members have remained active.
U guys n gals rock like always.
Zee is now renotiating their contract.
Salman has now conceded that there will be zero box office collection.
Noone was interested in Radhe.
Now also there has been no change.
It’s basically releasing on 4 screeens in Hyderabad and Overseas. There’s simply no parameter here to even judge. The Gulf opening should give us an idea of interest in the film.
The contract renegotiation happened due to 0 revenue from Indian theatrical rights.
It’s good news for rest of Bollywood that the rest of the rights are amounting to approx 200 cr for a big film. That’s a handsome table profit deal for producers of biggies. Shud give confidence for more movies to go this way for release in coved times.
I think for couple of years we shouldn’t be talking about box office collections of any movies. Now it is not about movie’s strengths anymore but external factors. Radhe can collect 5 crores today and next month another movie with same screens can collect 10 crores but it doesn’t mean that is more accepted than Radhe. The conditions and people’s mindset keeps changing as we are moving along the 2nd wave and so on.
Good part is we can talk about ‘quality’ of the movies releasing now. But if we are talking about quality, we need to skip talking about Salman & Akshay movies. That makes we have nothing to talk again. Lol
IMDb? Where Gunda has a 7.3 rating? And where user reviews are like this:
“Like the Mahabharata and Ramayana, Gunda is a symbol of Indian culture. Like them, it appeals to all people – from the age of nine to ninety, from the intellectual to the rustic. The movie combines the old Indian tradition of poetic narrative with social satire of Dr. Strangeglove, the drama of ordinary life as portrayed by Satyajit Ray , the spiritual realism of Abbas Kiriastami and the high entertainment quotient of films like Sholay. This movie describes the revenge story of Shankar. It deals with age-old issues of good vs evil. The epic movie takes into its span all issues like cause of woman oppression, heredity vs upbringing etc. This movie talks very subtly about the issues confronting the modern India. The film is full of personifications – Bulla of Khulla fame standing for laissez fare robber capitalism, Kale standing for the dark relationship between police and criminals.Pote standing for the lack of concern for one’s parents, chutiya standing for the emasculating forces . Lambu Atta stands for the compulsive lying and boasting . Ibu Hatela stands for the inordinate sexual desires. Mithun Chakravarty , acts as Shankar , the very personification of Lord Shiva, the destroyer, who destroys the evil forces. The last dialog of the film- Tera naam he Bulla , marte marte tera muha raha jaayega khula indicates the fact that when the so-called free economy will collapse, people will know its reality, its shady non-free nature ( the open mouth indicates a peep into its inside as well as transmission of actual news about self).”
Disha Patani and before, Salman Khan’s widening age gap with his leading ladies in numbers
Salman Khan has often romanced female actors 20 years younger than him whereas female actors younger than him have even essayed the role of his mother.
Sheeba Chaddha (born 1972) played mother to SRK (born 1966) in Raees who was romancing Mahira Khan, 18 years younger to him . Why did the press not create a ruckus then? Cause Salman is a soft target.
“We would lose money with Radhe but we are still going ahead with it”- Salman Khan
ByBollywood Hungama News NetworkCreated: May 12, 2021 – 9:00 AM IST
“We may get the lowest numbers with Radhe. It might not even cross 10-15 crores but whoever wants to be happy with this lowest number they can be happy. Some people will be happy with my lowest numbers while some people will be happy with my highest numbers. The lowest numbers are going to be Radhe. We would lose money on Radhe and box office collections are going to be almost zero but we are still going ahead with Radhe. My life’s ambition was 10 lakh rupees. It will come with nothing, it will go with nothing so whatever this is, it is much more than plus,” Salman said.

a bad film which is bound to make 100 crore, will end up making 125 crore if it has “3 clean weeks on christmas with 4 national holidays in first 10 days”.
and it can do wonder for a good film.

But 100/125 still equals bad film.

But at least you’re not playing favorite, you’re consistent in calling just about everything in bollywood as crap…
By the way, AAA was the film that started the real super stardom for AB. This film made him an all rounder.

Laxmii
1st 2,51,44,000
2nd – 71,80,000
3rd – 1,01,12,000
TOTAL – 4,24,36,000
Housefull 4
1st – 2,15,42,000
2nd – 1,32,26,000
3rd – 77,93,000
TOTAL – 4,25,61,000

No 1.

It’s good news for rest of Bollywood that the rest of the rights are amounting to approx 200 cr for a big film. That’s a handsome table profit deal for producers of biggies. Shud give confidence for more movies to go this way for release in coved times.

The song is not that bad. It has less noise. Disha has Madhuri’s smile.

Agree about the song, it’s the EDM, party type song that people enjoy these days. KRK’s just trolling for the heck of it.
“Disha has Madhuri’s smile.”
Sacrilege!!!

“Disha has Madhuri’s smile” Funniest comparison one will find on internet today. Disha is nowhere near Madz smile or grin.

Lol

Yeah, don’t fight over box office, instead fight over IMDb ratings now.
