Hereβs to the Gandhis fucking it up again. This Punjab election just might end up revitalizing the Khalisatani movement, and then, welcome back to the 70s/80s.
When I checked in the morning, the Imdb score of Haseen dilruba was around 5.3. Now it is 6.2.
It is a sort of comedy thriller and nothing more. The mother in law provides some comic relief. And the circus at the police station.
Too much blood and gore.
Fans of late actor Irrfan Khan have a reason to rejoice as Dubai Return, which is an old unreleased film of the actor is all set to release on YouTube on July 3. The update about Irrfan Khan’s film was shared by his son Babil Khan, on social media. Babil shared a poster of the film on Instagram to inform his father’s fans about the release of the film. “Releasing tomorrow on YouTube,” Babil Khan wrote in the caption of the post. Babil’s announcement just made our day. The poster of Dubai Return features Irrfan Khan wearing a hat and shades. Many fans of the late actor reacted to Babil Khan’s announcement. “Cannot wait,” a fan wrote in the comments section of Babil’s post.
Ranveer Singh to make his TV debut with Colorsβ The Big Picture
Ranveer Singh’s visual-based quiz show The Big Picture will air on Colors. It will also stream on Voot and Jio.
Have to say anyone who’s getting divorced at 56 and is most probably having an affair with a girl who is half his age is not going down the right path.
Reena took divorce that time and Aamir was not ready for divorce unlike this time with Kiran Rao. Reena had no financial backing but she still went ahead and took divorce. I don’t think she’ll get back at so late in life.
Had served up this piece of news in April. That marriage of a superstar K – known for his multiple clandestine affairs & fertile libido – is on the brink. The formal announcement has come now. https://t.co/DdwGcMifse
— Bollywood Insider (@BollyInsider007) July 3, 2021
A superstar K has been enjoying rumbustious romp with wife of another star K. Last year after the lockdown, as they resumed the shooting of their film, the libido got the better of the two. Known to hv clandestine affairs with his co-stars, the superstar K has quite a reputation.
On Saturday, Aamir and Kiran announced their divorce but said that they will continue with their professional partnership on Paani Foundation and βother projects that (they) feel passionate aboutβ. They will also βnurture and raiseβ their son Azad Rao Khan together.
This was bound to happen sooner or later…anyway, if it is Fatima, at least no more loveJ insinuations on Aamir.. ab woh sukoon se next 20 yrs tak apne se aadhi umar ki ladki ke saath zindagi jiyega..
Sure would be interesting to know how a Kiran gets her alimony rights without converting. Liberals off course wont offer any opinions. Reena didnt convert and has been living in dirt poor conditions for her sin.
UCC’s time has come, but otherwise, in most Hindu Muslim marriages, conversion happens on paper for civil purposes while the couple follow faith as a personal matter. So, technically she still has her alimony rights.
I don’t think Reena is in dirt poor condition; she is the COO of the Paani Foundation. Aamir was said to have given her an alimony of 50 crore, which is a huge amount in 2002.
Among the character actors, Yamini Das as Rishuβs raucous mother, brings good comic relief and innocence. Music (Amit Trivedi) and cinematography (Jayakrishna Gummadi) compliment the filmβs contrasting tone.
βHaseen Dillrubaβ has its moments of being preposterous and unbelievable, but it never stops being a delectably dark and defiant love story with a thrilling twist.
Dear @DelhiAirport, arrived at 1 AM by lufthanasa flight. Forms were given to fill for the RT PcR test. All the passenges are sitting on the floors or propping against the walls to fill the forms. Not a pretty sight. Providing tables is a simple service.
And I am sick of reading these similar statements from celebrities, especially stars, when declaring their divorces.
Very friendly divorce, taking care of children together, blah, blah, blah.
Stop this charade please!
It could be charade but I think it is more to do with being reasonable..at least for the kids…at certain point living together could be toxic..Only blood relation is where you can fight and come back with no bad blood…with all other relations when both people are independent..there is no point in enduring the relationship if you think you could be happy elsewhere.
I m nobody to comment on Aamirβs personal matter but I think PR people are stupid to draft such a funny statement to announce divorce. Statement says- Our relationship has grown interest respect and love during last 15 beautiful years together. If love has grown then why divorce?
I worry for Aamir’s lack of support system when he grows old. At 56, he has led a loved life.
Ever since Kiran came to Aamir’s life his creative brilliance excelled. From Lagaan till Dangal, Kiran was a pillar in their creativity. I always thought they complemented each other and a lot of Aamir’s decade long success had Kiran’s influence directly or indirectly. One can see the difference in his films before, during and after Kiran.
Issues started post Dangal and we can see the downfall is evident. What Aamir does from now would decide if the fall will be a crash or a gradual fade. Tragic for fans!!
This news was not planned to be shared till LSC releases. Obviously news like this kills the interest and brings negativity as the goodwill with the masterfully crafted media generated KHAN, goes away.
However with covid not close to getting over, the due decided it to call it a day officially. LSC has 100 cr wiped off from covid, another 100 cr goes away now. Might struggle to get OTT release now.
So what? Jeetendra had 7 back-to-back successes in 1983, Bachchan had only Coolie that outgrossed Himmatwala by a 3:2 margin, but a Manmohan Desai film is always bigger than a south remake.
In fact, you look at Jeetendra in the mid 80s and Akshay today, the similarities are dead on. So, yes I’d prefer to be a fan of Shah Rukh and admire Aamir than blindly love Akshay (which even Twinkle is smart enough not to).
Look, bringing Akshay in every discussion with me has been your idea. I never even spoke about him.
Akshay ke baare mein we have discussed earlier. so chill.
Why did you get mirchi on LSC.
You and Z got the similar mirchi when i used to speak about Radhey. Bhaukaal uda diya na tumhaara Sallu ne. Bade udte the hi Radhe ye karei…wo karei. Ullu bane gaye sab. Bowkwaas aisaki Laxmi kind of porr film, top class lag gaya uske saamne.
So you are losing these war of words. So why do war. Peace and retrospection is the need of hour.
Mirchi is simply because you might not be directly pulling down movies like Marcus, but you are pulling it down and propping your favorites up. Anyone reading what you wrote about 100 crore losses was bound to be offended. I tend to defend even Akshay, so peace I have in plenty.
I donβt think Aamir will marry 3rd time. He seems to be a maverick when it comes to his libido and love life, it happens to many creative geniuses. Being in open status will suit him better imo. The announcement has been made now as LSC has been pushed to aug next year. The buzz around his divorce will die out over the next year.
Incidentally, whenever there is a gap of 4 years between his releases, he has a divorce!
Right now he is in Ladakh for shooting the last schedule of LSC. Would be there for a month or so.
Kiran Rao and their son Azad are now in Kargil with Aamir. It does seem like an amicable separation and together they are staying out of the media and social media circus.
First she has to heal. It takes time. And she has her son.
Usually sensible women dont rush into second, third marriages on rebound. And there is the question of finding the right one.
Yesterday I was thinking that the forum is dead with only me and munna posting something.
Thanks to aamir news, the blog came back to life with Nykavi also posting something.
Good going!
Yes i am also glad the blog came back to life , someone’s misfortune is the source of entertainment for the people on this blog . Anyway please carry on with all the speculation about his divorce and whom he going to marry next , not that Aamir owes u any explanation .
Those movies have to be released too. And people who are divorcing are also working hard on their movies and scripts.
As for forum, I am keeping tabs on who is commenting and how frequently and who has stopped commenting.
The forum is losing members due to covid effects. Not only this forum but some other forums too. Many regulars have disappeared.
I dont think Aamir is not supporting his first wife and kids in some way. These things are personal. Aamir himself is not living a King’s life. Anyhow this will die down in the wake of other new news coming up.
Better to separate than live an unhappy life together.
Recently a spate of news items coming about murders, suicides among couples. The red suitcase case from Tirupathi, the doctor couple suicide in Pune, elderly couple suicide in Delhi,a mumbai father poisoning his kids after a fight with wife and so on. Due to unemplyment because of covid lockdowns and other reasons.
Husband and wife relationship is the most delicate and it needs maturity and level headedness to handle marriage. Nuclear families also lead to couples fighting without any restraint as there is absence of elderly parents intervening and counselling.
Yes Haseen dilruba was strictly okay. Had some moments but overall screenplay of the movie was patchy. It was difficult to know when characters are serious and when doing drama.
Tapsee and Vikrant have done well. They saved the movie for me.
Taapsee Pannu defends reposting tweet with abusive language, slams ‘personal digs’ in Haseen Dillruba review
Actor Taapsee Pannu has tweeted about the reviews for her film Haseen Dillruba and said that a critic was a ‘troller’ for taking ‘personal digs’ at her.
Kartik Aaryan starrer ‘Satyanarayan Ki Katha’ director releases an official statement; says ‘we have taken a decision to change the title to avoid hurting sentiments’
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has started compliance on its 2017 notice to demolish a part of Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan’s Prateeksha Bungalow for road widening.
The BMC has given a notice to Bachchan’s family for road widening that a portion of their Pratheeksha bungalow plot will be acquired for the widening of the Sant Dnyaneshwar Marg road.
The BMC has also instructed Mumbai Suburban Collector City survey officials to demarcate the exact portion of the bungalow required for the road-widening project.
Sant Dnyaneshwar Marg connects Chandan Cinema area to Link Road towards Iskcon temple.
Advocate Tulip Brian Miranda, Municipal Councillor, while speaking to ANI, asked why the BMC’s work had been completed for all other houses except around the Bollywood actor’s, and said that the key project had been stalled.
If land belongs to AB then they have to go through procedures of eminent domain to get land..if it is illegal extra use then BMC have very right to take back that land.
Based on article it seems, BMC just want that land which belongs to AB.
If #AamirKhan and #KiranRao have no problem with divorcing each other , why the Fβ¦. should anyone else have it in the whole world ? Trollers are trolling it in a stupidly personal way , whereas the couple are being personally professional !
as the world becomes more individualistic, marriages would become passe .. even in middle class with legal contract people would be unwilling to enter into marriage where more chances of breaking and you end up paying spouse good chunk..
A scientific paper on population…India population would come down after 2060..
A gist in Cut the clutter.
One thing I appreciate is that both were never forced to change their surnames. It is always Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao.
Unlike others who tag other surnames names after marriage.
And I also wish their kids to have names without surnames and only mother’s maiden name for paper work and they can opt for whatever surname when they become adults.
I don’t think anyone is forced to change name in the industry anymore. Reema Dutta was known as Reema Khan all the years but she also used her original surname. During Lagaan’s release she specifically wanted Reema Dutta in the credits as the relationship was on the verge of breakup. Kiran Rao didn’t change . Ash Rai Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor Khan also added husband surname but without removing their family surname. Adding Khan is trendy in Bollywood like Malaika Arora Khan or Guari Khan. Anyways doesn’t say much, it’s either your dad’s surname or your husband’s surname.
In my family and many families we’re particular to not have father’s or husband’s surname to girls. They should have their own surnames.
There is no real equality. Why not Abhishek Bachchan Rai or Abhishek Rai? Why not Aamir Dutta or Aamir Rao? Why not Shah rukh Chibber? Why not Amitabh Bhaduri?
This proves that we are too patriarchal that the very thought of husband changing his surname looks odd and ridiculous. He may wash dishes to help wife but he will not think of changing his surname after marriage.
It is good to know some women are allowed to retain their father’s surname. Here also it is mostly father’s, not mother’s.
By the way, it took a long time for me to accept Kiran Rao. And I had some fights with aamir fans over this. And even after grudgingly accepting Kiran, whenever aamir gave all credit to Kiran publicly, I felt bad for Reena. I always root for the first one. Same way I rooted for Arjun’s mother when Boney married Sri.
Watched it for the first time. Completely hooked on, cannot wait to watch it for a second time. A brilliantly narrated visionary film that seems eerily familiar in these times. Got nearly everything correct barring the political correctness & the all too convenient climax. 4/5
The film will star Saif Ali Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez and Yami Gautam.
According to an earlier report in Bollywood Hungama, βThe satellite and digital rights of Bhoot Police have been sold to Star Network for a sum in the range of Rs. 60 to 65 crores as compared to the budget of Rs 40 crores. With this deal, the producer, Ramesh Taurani, has made an easy table profit in the range of Rs. 20 to 25 crore with some more income expected from the sale or exploitation of music and other rights.β

“Till recently he was ready to leave his country on wifeβs advise.”
Till recently? When?
And he does not even have a home outside India unlike many of our superstars.
And he was never a citizen of another country. Or brand ambassador of another country.
Of course his lovelife is less than perfect.
And he has views like all of us and now he stopped airing them.
He is not a role model for me for some reasons.
Infact none of the celebrities are role models for me.
Except perhaps Hrithik Roshan and Sonu Sood. Hope they will keep up their integrity. They may have some flaws but who does not?
Aamir is a role model because of his work, his filmography – all the classics he has delivered. He isnt a role model for his love life or sex life. His contributions to indian cinema has already been etched in gold. Something that a mediocre star with mediocre films can only dream about.
Director Hansal Mehta announced on Monday that his upcoming crime thriller will star Shashi Kapoorβs grandson Zahaan Kapoor and Paresh Rawalβs son Aditya Rawal in lead roles. The project, touted to be βbig action commercial thrillerβ marks Hansal Mehtaβs first collaboration with filmmaker friend Anubhav Sinha, who is producing the film.
Kangana Ranaut took to her Instagram story and spoke about inter-fate marriages and the bringing up of children. “At one point In Punjab most families raised one son as a Hindu and another one as a Sikh, this trend has never been seen among Hindus and Muslims or Sikhs or Muslims, or anyone else with Muslims for that matter, with Aamir Khan sir’s second divorce I wonder in an interfaith marriage why children come out only Muslims. Why woman cannot continue to be Hindu? with changing times we must change this, this practice is archaic and regressive… if in one family if Hindu, Jain, Buddhist, Sikh, RadhaSwami and atheists can live together then why not Muslims? Why must one change one’s religion to marry a Muslim?” questioned Kangana Ranaut.
Interesting question. Reality is I would never marry someone who demands specific changes in my character or anything. If you sign on the dotted line you cannot complain about it after!
Kangana is not asking the important question here IMO. What someone else demands is not the the point. The point is you have a choice to say No or say F off or demand the same back.
Put it bluntly if a friend came to me and said
‘He wants to marry me but said I need to convert’. My response would be is he worth it? In fact leave him.
Then if they got married and it went sour I think my friend shouldn’t complain about religion, period. She’s made that choice and she has to take responsibility for it. It’s irrelevant what I think of her husband.
I wouldn’t dare ask anyone to change in this way at all. So it tells you enough what response I would have if someone demanded me to do something like this. You can guarantee they will see at least one finger.
I think, in the Indian context although I’m not a lawyer, conversions happen because the Muslim community has its own separate Law Board. Being a non Muslim married to a Muslim, one might not have the same inheritance or alimony rights. The Non Muslims (basically 1) I know convert on paper but follow their own faith. A similar thing happens in Bollywood afaik.
Sounds complicated.
I’ve seen it play out here. Interracial marriages are not easy. First the hurdle of accepting each other, then getting support of families, then dealing with whispers of extended family. A lot of drama. Seen it work, seen it fail but failure not because of interracial aspect but just failure for other reasons.
Where it’s successful – the non X (the entrant into the new culture) puts up with a lot of change. Marriage is the last step. They’ve spent a lot of time together – less of what is to come is a shock. Where things happen hastily it’s always possible things go pear shaped.
Today you don’t have to accept ridiculous demands (unless you’re truly desperate – but then better to be single IMO).
It’s a level playing field if you desire that kind of fight.
On a separate note, Sanjana I would 100% take my wife’s surname….it’s the same as mine π
And it’s as complex for an Asian here as it is for a white. The white person usually has little family around them, they’ve lived freely forever and all of a sudden BAM they have billions of relations.
The Asian IMO has a lot of comforts but is dealing with all the looks of relatives and whispers. It’s all swings and roundabouts but if the couple are fearless and truly in love – nothing really can stop them from being happy.
Don’t know what Kangana is smoking. Aamir, Srk or Saif.. none of them converted their wives to Muslims for the marriage. Srk’s kid name is Aryan(not muslim name) whereas Hrithik married muslim girl and his kid name is (H)Rehan(which is muslim name). Both cases the kids name followed mother’s religion and cultural names.
She is clever and has positioned herself as rebel.
She is taking extreme positions which is irrational. However it is helping her to work with those who are not part of star based Bollywood. Being a star, Kangana gets access to those creative minds.
Aalia, Deepika etc also chose to take position to work mostly with core bollywood and not talk much about the disease. This to me is also an example of being a nut case.
The one thing Kangana has going for her is she speaks her mind. There is definitely passion and fire in the belly there. But her mechanism to voice her opinion loses plenty of people and by in large she targets people. So it comes across as nothing more than a playground bully.
Actually I am glad with the choice.
BigB has been over exposed in these dramas. He occupied the space of Amrish Puri (DDLJ). Needed a new face. Dharmendra – this is an ace selection.
There is good comedy talent in some sitcoms. While TMKOC lost its sheen long back, there is Wagle ki duniya 2 with Sumit Raghavan.
Though it gets too preachy sometimes, the comedy by actors is good to sustain it. Sumit and Deepak Pareek are good. They are shooting in some resort in Silvassa and without the older Wagles due to covid fear. Need some patience to watch some episodes.
And not so recent Sumit Sambhal Lega based on Everybody loves Raymond is also watchable. Namit Das, Satish Kaushik, Bharati Achrekar need special mention.
Some interesting comments on Aamir and marriage above. I have not read all comments carefully so I may be misspeaking on my comments belowβ
While Iβm no fan of aamir, I can easily say that you can take love-Jih@d out of the picture. He didnβt marry reena or Kiran for that. And if anyone suggests that, it says more about that persons thought process than aamirs.
I think most young people here wonβt understand this, you have to age little bit and go thru life experience to understand this but I think aamir is somewhat honest to his marriage. By this I mean, if he was interested in someone else, he could just have an affair on side and not have to go thru this backlash, etcβ¦ He can have someone new every week on side while being married. So itβs not a lust thing.
I think he gets bored with time and wants change in life more than anything. So when he moved from reena, it wasnβt like he married some superhot model/actress. Even now, I think itβs more of marriage becoming stale.
Of course there is a possibility of with him aging, the lust is taking over. After all he is human. But again, he can easily have some young one every week and no one would know about it. With plenty of outdoor/foreign location shooting, anything is possible. But he chose to end the marriage and this is where I think he is somewhat being honest to his marriage.
Agree, but we humans are weak, some more than others. Also what good is staying together if staying together can potentially lead to worse life for kids than separated parents.
Celebs lifestyle and i assume thought process is little different but at regular level, the relationship can get very stressful and in some cases abusive. It’s better to part ways than live together where none is happy.
The National Film Archives of India has acquired the camera negatives of Raju Hirani and Aamir Khanβs film βPKβ. The filmmaker handed over the negatives to the Director of NFAI Prakash Magdum on Tuesday in Pune.
When contacted Prakash Magdum said, βPK is a 2014 film and is one of the last films to have been shot on celluloid when the transition from celluloid to digital technology was taking place in India.β Magdum added, βAlthough the film was shot on celluloid it was released in digital format and also probably one of the most important films from an archival perspective.β
Many faces of Ranveer Singh: From 83 to Cirkus, a look at his characters to watch out for
On Ranveer Singh’s 36th birthday, here’s a look at all the characters he’ll be playing in his upcoming films like 83, Sooryavanshi, Jayeshbhai Jordaar, Cirkus and more.
Screenwriter and filmmaker Kumar Ramsay, known for penning some of Ramsay Brothersβ horror films, passed away on Thursday following a cardiac arrest. He was 85.
Kumarβs nephew Amit Ramsay confirmed the news of his demise to indianexpress.com. He said, βKumar Ramsay was the eldest among the Ramsay Brothers, namely Tulsi Ramsay, Shyam Ramsay, Gangu Ramsay, Keshu Ramsay, Kiran Ramsay and Arjun Ramsay. He suffered a cardiac arrest this morning and died around 5:30 am at his home in Hiranandani in Mumbai. He was 85.β
Kumar Ramsay penned some of Ramsay Brothersβ horror films, including Purana Mandir (1984), Khoj (1989) and Saaya (1989). He also bankrolled films like Aur Kaun? (1979) and Dahshat (1981).
He added, “But if I have to clear the air about it, nobody was scared. Of anything. We are thorough professionals. If a certain level of kindness or gentleness is taken as being intimidated, then people really need to sort of understand different aspects of relationships.”
Taapsee Pannu in an interview with a leading daily said that she hopes she made the scenes comfortable for Vikrant and Harshvardhan Rane. “I hope I made it comfortable for the guys, because they looked very scared,” she said. “They thought pata nahi yeh kya karegi hamare saath (who knows what she’ll do to us). Both the guys were, I felt, really scared because, I don’t know, the image I have or what the problem was… But I used to go to Vinil and complain…”
A quirky comedy Suraj pe Mangal Bhaari. I purchased Zee 5 to watch all the films of DK and the magic of his dialogue delivery and silences. I was pleasantly surprised to get a slew of well acclaimed films like Sonchiria, Kedarnath. Only Rs.499 per year while I pay the same amount per month for netflix!
Pavitra Rishta 2 first look: Shaheer Sheikh to play Sushant Singh Rajputβs role, Ankita Lokhande reprises Archana
Pavitra Rishta 2’s first look was shared on social media with Ankita Lokhande and Shaheer Sheikh playing Archana and Manav. The main lead was originally played by Sushant Singh Rajput.
This post is dedicated to you, Sanjana. Not sure if you are leaving the blog, but i hv been thinking of taking sanyas from blogging for a while now. And no time is better than the present.
So my last post here in SS is on celebrating 30 years of DHKMN. Aamir’s 3rd hit, a modest one compared to his first 2 in QSQT and Dil.
I don’t understand all this leaving business. People are just sharing opinions here and in other post. Soon I’ll be left with Naveen. And forced to be Akshay Kumar fan. I’ll feel like Kajal felt walking down them steps towards Salman in KKHH. Not knowing my destiny!
Save me!
LOL Jay, but my decision has nothing to do with anyone’s comment or opinion. Its just that these days i feel like a spent force when it comes to blogging, and with time i have become more and more disinterested in bollywood and whats happening in there.
It’s cyclical. You’ll be back. I go through these periods like you. But Satyamshot and old NG are one in a million as blogs go. I feel I can come here to vent or be happy.
See you soon.
I don’t think so. If they have then we don’t know. Precursor to this site, Naachgaana..once Saif mentioned Jay’s Box office column. Baradwaj and Joginder were member there. Jay once made Taran Adarsh parady review of Rab ne bana di Jodi and it created issues.
I think there were some comments here by same email used by Sumit Kadel which shows up in his Twitter Bio.
ps – Even Anurag Kashyap showed up because his movie was releasing and Satyam shepherded him from Twitter to here.
Re-watched this one and still wondering how some folks call this the greatest gangster film ever (even ahead of the Godfather!). Good solid storytelling was partly ruined by the caricature clown Joe Pesci & crooked faced De Niro with a fake Italian accent (he’s so much better just being American). The over the top cringing & screeching make this somewhat feel more like a Bollywood gangster flick (Satya) than the suave poise & flair of The Godfather. Good film but definitely not the greatest I’ve watched by a country mile (like most of Scorsese flicks, a hugely overrated film maker in my opinion).
Sanjana: Checked out this *random and obscure* film on OTT. Didn’t like the violence. I don’t like violence of any kind, even when its suggested. The other *more obscure and more random* film on a different OTT platform was more interesting. It was cute and funny. I think I like teddy bears. Also, Aamir. Didn’t know he directed this film.
Naveen: Talking of teddy bears, did you know akshay kumar has signed 17 more films about nationalistic teddy bears, teddy bears for a social cause, teddy bears sporting a tuxedo, and teddy bears in a period setting. Is there any other actor in the history of the universe with as much versatility in teddy bears?
Marcus: I’m not here to discuss anything related to the topic but I can’t resist trolling Naveen. Jay would you help me out there?
Jay: (ignoring Marcus and replying directly to sanjana) I was into teddy bears when I was younger. Let me revisit sanjana’s film and see if my opinion on them has changed.
An Jo: I feel we’re missing the point here. Sanjana, while most of your observations make sense from a cultural standpoint and the relevance of teddy bears in the context of India’s independence, there’s a lot that is hinted upon but i cannot really pin it down. Allow my thoughts to settle down along the course of my writing so I could put in my two cents.
Oh wait, I’ve already written beyond what was intended.
Munna: An Jo on Teddy Bears and Aamir
Saket: Brilliant analysis An Jo, though though I might say your reading may be a little off from the cultural standpoint. I thought the impact of teddy bears on Indian cinema had less to do with the struggle for independence than it had to do with the Italian mafia of 1920s downtown. I agree with sanjana that violence on teddy bears cannot be justified even when it points to a larger picture of history repeating itself, but I dare say the makers had taken a risk that strangely did not misfire. In today’s world, however, it might be provoking for even the neutral observer because…
(10 more lines)
Shivaay: Ha! Teddy bears. It’s a wannabe concept made by a downright pathetic filmmaker who has no idea about cinema and dreams of bringing Indian cinema to a global audience. He doesn’t even deserve any discussion but ridicule. Shame shame!
Aman Basha: Do you even know what you’re talking about? How can you simply disregard teddy bears just because you don’t like anything. Tedyd bears also deserve love.
Z: Forget it, I stopped expecting love on this blog the day satyam left. Now its filled with an army of teddy bear haters. I don’t want to name anyone, but I hope you get what I’m talking about.
Rocky:
BREAKING NEWS:

I have; I have seen second part as well!
ps- You are more likely to see if you have kid at home. But like Toy Story series, it could be seen by adults.
Although in terms of comic relief, it reminds me more of Buster Keaton than Laurel and Hardy. Bachchan’s scene with Mausi in Sholay is also an inspiration it seems π
19 Years of Devdas, nominated for the BAFTA Award for Best Non English Film, strangely Richard Corliss’ 8th favorite film of the millennium. Before anyone goes off on this overrated, overwrought dreck, let us all pay our thanks to this film and its director for giving us the gift of Shreya Ghoshal.
SRK has become a miserable fellow. I remember he was trying to pitch Devdas as some sort of an all-time classic at the time of its release (along with KJo promoting it more than SLB!). He was clearly insecure after Lagaan’s release and probably during its making too. Makes me wonder why he chose a film with a period setting during that time when no one else was doing it.
If you notice the Chak De poster, it was very similar to the Lagaan one. (close up shot of the actor, and a picture of the team below).
And now after 20 years of Lagaan, SRK feels the need to put Devdas in the limelight too for its 19 years. I don’t really think the film has held up well. The music was fantastic, though
He was actually the last to post about it. When everyone from the cast and crew posts, it becomes more peer pressure. He actually did Devdas for the same reason he did Don; his favorite actors have been Dilip Kumar and Amitabh, with the remakes, he wants to present himself as their next.
Sanjay Bhansali is a copy/paste film maker who somehow gets lavish budgets to run wild with his fantasies. Not a single movie in his entire filmography that’s worth a 2nd watch (not even Black with a brilliant AB but a stammering caricature Rani), Bajirao Mastani felt like a poor man’s Mughal E Azam 55 years after the latter’s release.
In that generation of actors I agree that he was the best choice (who else?) but still poor choice. In fact the film is like a dessert or opera. Some have a taste for opera, others find it intolerable. As an SRK fan, I am compelled to develop a taste for opera π ultimately making me watch Bajirao instead of Dilwale.
But had it not been for him, millions would not have seen Devdas. Remakes are fine. Its hard as an actor. Some credit to make an attempt should be given.
Songs were brilliant. Aish looked her best ever. Mads danced like a queen, despite looking a bit old. She looms better nowadays.
Devdas story is difficult for new gen to digest. But they did watch and SRK should get a large credit. He did entertain.
Settling for obscene mediocrity as always. Neither is SLB a capable film maker and nor is Shah Rukh a capable enough actor to pull off the intense panache that Dilip Kumar exhibited with the original. To remake a classic you first need film makers who can update the vision of the original yet retain the flavor & essence of the story. Sanjay Bhansali has never gone beyond his self indulgence of opulence and fancy dresses/sets towards the narrative or content of a theme. Barring Khamoshi every film of his has been a melodramatic cringe fest beyond the outer million dollar sugar coat.
An unassuming, under rated Spielberg masterpiece with a first rate Tom Hanks & Mark Rylance. Hard hitting dialogues, uncomfortably cold visuals captured via masterful cinematography, a theme set in 1960 that seems more relevant today than ever before. Must watch more than once to capture its true essence.
He hasnt. But Nupoor is too young. Moreover she is fresh. So that makes it almost impossible for any 50+ to survive. This did look like a tharki buddha going after a young bride. π€£π€£
And Akshay just about barely managed. Actually he escaped.
Salman saw his worst days ever with a much (older than Nupoor) Disha in Radhey.
Akshay needs to watch out here. South indian oldies can survive. But north india mein age difference pe people react.

When I checked in the morning, the Imdb score of Haseen dilruba was around 5.3. Now it is 6.2.
It is a sort of comedy thriller and nothing more. The mother in law provides some comic relief. And the circus at the police station.
Too much blood and gore.

3.5 stars.

Aamir is a role model because of his work, his filmography – all the classics he has delivered. He isnt a role model for his love life or sex life. His contributions to indian cinema has already been etched in gold. Something that a mediocre star with mediocre films can only dream about.

So either way, its clever.

A conversation between current SS members:
Sanjana: Checked out this *random and obscure* film on OTT. Didn’t like the violence. I don’t like violence of any kind, even when its suggested. The other *more obscure and more random* film on a different OTT platform was more interesting. It was cute and funny. I think I like teddy bears. Also, Aamir. Didn’t know he directed this film.
Munna: There is an interesting analogy about teddy bears and Aamir that I had observed. Check out this 17-year old comment I have carefully preserved:
http://www.satyamshot.wordpress.com/1672537/noonegivesadamn

Yes in that generation.

Not entirely accurate, but I think it broadly captures the sentiment on the American Right these days.

However like mane we miss the point-
Whatever Akshay is touching now is turning into a GOLD !!
That his best is coming while for all hos contemporaries, best is gone speaks about the lucky position he is in.

This is really sad. I think she was finally getting recognized for her mettle as an actress with Badhaai Ho and Ghost Stories.
