Hate to say this but Akshay Kumar has put me off patriotic movies for life, he’s saturated it tf. If they’re going with the patriot angle in this it needs to be different, otherwise SRK will be late to the party (again!).

Name a genre which Akshay is not doing.
With his films, unless one does something very different like Pushpa or Jhund, all appears to be Akshay Kumar genre now. With sizeable population watching, its now seen it before feeling for most including his own.

YRF should have gone for a better available release date like 30 Dec for Pathaan.
Now 30 Dec 2022, has been grabbed by Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali. Its a bit unusual because KEKD shooting is starting later in April and releasing within 8 months. Kis type ka low budget movie hai ye? Unless it would get postponed ehich is likely.
Nonetheless, excited about Pathaan. Sounds like a good comeback vehicle.

I’m not sure about the date, a clash on Diwali/Dusshera (with a week of holidays) is better than solo on 25th Jan IMO.

Prithviraj was more demanding for Akshay. 15 days of preperatory workshop + 70 days of actual shooting + 10 more days. I mean this is alright if he does 1 movie in a year.
But he does 5. So Akshay’s model is unique.

Still sound better than akshay film budget 🙂
True when compared to 2019 budget.
Now its quite high for for few of his movies where he is trying to up the game.
Even with that budget, a movie would take 1 year to release from the day day 1 shoot starts. And this we are talking about Akshay Kumar efficiency.
Add 6 more months of Salman delay and we are looking at Dec 2023 release for KEKD. Would be surprised if Sallu has got that kick to do this year. He is quite competitive.

As much as SRKs PR might wanna make it sound like a comeback, the fact remains that after Parmanu, Satyamev Jayate and Batla House, John’s a decent box office draw in himself. These 3 films performed much better than Zero, JHMS and Fan and adding Deepika to the equation, Pathan becomes a complete multistarrer than a solo protagonist film (something similar to what Govinda’s and Rajnikanth’s addition did in Hum when AB was going through a relative low).

Nice article. No one has become a true superstar since SRK’s debut in 92. Hrithik came close to becoming one with his debut but faltered badly after KNPH and since then has not been prolific at all. HR has the charisma but not the acting chops or tenacity that a ‘superstar’ requires. SRK on the other hand has been an epitome of hamming, but the man can ‘act’ if needed (or when he chooses to do so).
Too bad that the last decade has been unkind to SRK when it comes to box office. His last well-accepted BO hit was Chennai Express almost 10 years back in 2013. However, i think he has an interesting line-up in 2023 (Pathaan, Jawan, Dunki) and will do v well. If these films dont work for him, i dont think anything else will. Of course, they may turn out to be middling successes and take him nowhere. But that is unlikely, and if they work as expected, he will be back with a bang.

I meant she is looking good behind the pistol. Deepika has a more interesting comeback line-up than SRK with Pathaan, Fighter and Project K with Prabhas. It has been a while since Padmavaat, but she is set to make a grand comeback in 2023-24.

It’s alright. The joke.was on Deepika, not you. I do not know for others but every time I hear about Deepika, the word ‘maal’ comes to my mind.. you know for the investigation on drugs consumption on her. The excuse she used for allusion to using that word was so pathetic and ridiculous that even a child would know she is a druggie. But she managed to not get caught.. so still, hats off to the criminal process against the rich and the famous in India.

I still do not understand the need to have a computer generated 6 packs and make it look ugly and repulsive.
ShahRukhKhan need to avoid these gimmicks and keep it natural like AkshayKumar or AjayDevgn whose body looks better without VFX.

I do hope he’s playing someone in his mid 40s or beyond in Pathaan. As much as few would vouch for deaging and CGI gimmicks, the fact remains that playing a character 20+ years younger than your real age seems nothing short of superficial and unnatural. Recent examples like Akshay in Prithviraj, Aamir in Lal Singh and even Bachchan sir in Jhund prove this point beyond doubt.

LSC, Prithiviraj are exceptions but I don’t think older actors are trying to portray 20s star on screen. Srk was 40 even in Chennai Express and even in first look poster here..he has gray hairs, beard included. Same with HNY, FAN star role, JHMS. Zero, he has played 36 year old. Srk is not gonna be in 20s for sure in Pathaan unless it’s 1 or 2 scenes.

SRK!!!!! Incredible Scale. Excellent teaser. What an entry. Just make it like War and have a couple of hit songs and we are set. The BGM is already fire.
In some scenes, the VFX is bad! Red Chillies should have done the VFX instead of YFX. Idk if they will fix it before the release, but at least it’s not as bad as Adipurush?

The teaser looks really good. YRF shud come on 26th Jan and try to edge past KGF2’s opening to set a new opening record. Sid Anand is on fire with this after War. Hrithik will surely get another Blockbuster in 2024 with Fighter.

People are comparing it with WAR. Lets be cautious here becaise… if you watch the teaser impartially and not get overwhelmed with SRK comeback then you realise the real deal here is John Abraham and not SRK, who for some reason look less serious in action scenes now. I think he tries hard and hence looks oit of place.
Also War is what it is because of Hrithik. It is his turf. JOHN is replacing Tiger here and might match but SRK cant do what Hrithik manages. srk’s expertise is not this.
Deepike seems to have taken a small role. Hope i am wrong but this is SRK vs John film.
Nonetheless big opening on the cards. Its for theatres.

Pathaan will do a lot more business than War. Hrithik is good in this genre but very plastic. Srk seems to be bringing in his raw edge into the equation and the teaser promises a great entertaining film. This will be like Don’s slickness with Dhoom like entertainment.

Fighter should be Sid Anand’s best till date, based on the template thus far. His brilliant performances in Super 30 & Vikram Vedha notwithstanding, this genre is HRs very own. SRK would take some doing to match that War level of flair & swagger at this stage of his career.

For me, would be Ranveer Singh now.
Would have been SRK in 90s.
Again, i am a bit disillusioned now with SRK. He had the best lineup earlier too. But while other stars were giving hits, his tanked. I will be happy if my views change post Pathaan.
I will get disillusioned with Akshay too if his movies tank while other’s are doing well. But for now its not happenning.

Isn’t Akshay playing Shivaji after the Prithviraj fiasco disillusioning enough? These are roles of a lifetime that need at lease 40 weeks of effort, not 40 days! Gotta admire the nerve of the production house signing Akshay Kumar for this role, especially after Sharad Kelkar’s performance in Tanhaji & Chinmay Madlekar’s take on the legend in Sher Shivaji.

Unfortunately the last sentence speaks volumes on the psyche and bar for films now. Nothing against the comment as it’s largely true.
But that is a sad situation if all it takes is a good trailer and a song.
Avatar 2 will probably open huge in India. I see that as having potential to be top grosser outright in India in 2022.

A KGF probably dont need it as it is a sequel but a Brahmastra and Pathan will need it to get that good opening specially in BW and then they can build on it (assuming script is good after that)

SRK’s timing is impeccable. 3 films in 2023 after what disasters Bollywood’s faced. He will be heralded as the saviour for Bollywood. Narrative is there for sure.
I think it’s clear Pathaan will open well. Q is always will it be of substance and sustain. That is where Bollywood needs a big one.

I dont think he has planned it out that way but by luck or otherwise he has 3 movies out of which 2 are exactly the kinds which people love to come out to watch. And the third one has a director which people trust. But ultimately SRKs biggest weakness is the movie (script) itself and none of his movies turn out to be good.

2022 will be remebered as the year of Mega Flops. Overall, the year will belong to Ranbir and Ranveer (provided Cirkus does 200+ cr as expected). But even these two have delivered duds in Jayeshbhai Jordar and Shamshera in 2022.
The onus will be on Srk and Salman to deliver the big hits (330+ cr) with their 5 films in 2023. Whichever way you look at it, there is no excape from the Khans for Bollywood. Aamir is having a bad phase, but he will also bounce back in due time. Btw, he has rejected both Mogul and the Campeones remake in the meantime.

Do folks here actually think Pathaan open big? If so I am excited. Full disclosure I am one of those SRK fan(atics) from Naachgaana days, but even I’m skeptical of SRK’s BO pull in this market. I’m thinking a 30ish crore opening day, and a Brahmastra like total… given the fact that this is a Sid Anand-YRF movie, there’s a cap on how good the movie can actually be. I hope I’m wrong but after the JHMS-Zero double punch, I’m very pessimistic.
Just saw that Akshay signed Chhatrapati Sivaji’s biopic for a Diwali 2023 release date. So he’s doing another 40 day scheme again. That will be a very interesting clash. Tiger 3 vs a bad Chhatrapati Sivaji that will be supported and promoted to the next level in Maharashtra. Shiv Sena may even do something scammy like limit Tiger’s release in Maharashtra theaters.

Opening Day record (or 50+ cr Day) wud only had been possible only if Pathaan released on the 26th Jan holiday. But since its coming on 25th, the opening will likely be in 35-40 cr range. If the movie is a passable fare in its genre (like War), it can do great on 26th and then on Sat-Sun. With a really big extended weekend (175+ cr), it will be on course to 300+ cr total even if it just trends decently from there. So yes, 300+ cr is a real possibility here.

Naveen: No one stopping you from having doubts about Pathaan’s success but you yourself know you are lying if comparing Pathaan with SRK’s last releases like JHMS or Zero. Even many Srk fans were skeptical with Zero and is hardly fool proof concept to make your leading star as physically handicapped and expect to break records. As far I know only 3 flops in last decade out of which FAN is anyways experimental which no one expected to break records and neither with JHMS. Only Zero was touted to be at least it’ll give him hit but inside reports was not great and hence even Karan Johar released Simmba next week after it as they know Zero would be done by then. But if you don’t see difference between Zero ( from a director who never delivered huge scale movie) to Pathaan who’s coming after War then you might be still reeling under Akki’s loss this year. Please remove the shades and compare appropriately. Yes, any movie can tank and become flop but everyone is at least it’ll open big and that’s half battle won in today’s scenario. You are trying to present it like some Adipurush teaser feedback where they had change plans and runaway from releasing the movie. I can assure with negative feedback from folks like you or raghavwood, Pathaan will not delay its release! So, save yourself some energy.

As for silly points that Srk is not action hero and he’s romantic star, actually many of them prefer Srk’s slick action style. His DON 2 is favorite of many. Here he’s on the Don 2 zone with more bigger scale stunts and action. It’s not me, many celebs also prefer Srk as action star and once one director mentioned same that interviewer had to reconfirm are you saying Srk as action hero?

Its just that what i am seeing might be a pessimistic view (which i usually never have) but just the hype is make me try to do correction in managing expectations in a market which is hostile to big star led movies.

Market is hostile to substandard products particularly post pandemic period which Bollywood has been offering. Anyway, Pathan teaser is excellent and your microscopic examination for finding faults inside it won’t change the equation. It has laid strong foundation and trailer/ songs are going to take it to next level now.

Even Brahmastra was a silly trashy film, yet it offered big screen spectacle and worked to a good extent. As from Pathaan trailer, its a film surely to be seen on big screen. It will work unless they mess it up bigtime. And YRF have experience in delivering big hits in this genre.

Naveen, saying Akshay was ever bigger than SRK is your dream. Do you understand Cricket contracts?
Kohli & Rohit Sharma are A+ contract.
KL Rahul & Pant are A contract.
Axer, Siraj are B contract.
Hardik & Suryakumar Yadac are C contract.
Just coz Hardik & Sky are playing better than Rohit or Virat during their low form they don’t suddenly don’t get paid over them. Their level is very high and they have to crawl the ladder from C to B to A and finally A+.
Likewise, Akshay can give Jeetendra type small hits forever, he’ll never become SRK nor Jeetendra became Amitabh Bachchan neither did Jubile Kumar, Rajendra kumar who had string of non-stop silver jubilees to his name but that doesn’t make him TOP star, just more saleable and easy to sign and make movies. So, better to come out of that fallacy that Akshay was number 1 with his 100 crore hits.

Mind-blowing trailer where every scene is either a straight on copy or rip off, even the dialogues, but hey it’s King Khan! He wanted to make flop movies, thats why he went all in on Zero and chose the best season of the year. He The logic of some fans…
The Khans are smart, whenever their movies stop working, they go for a long break and let’s die hard fans build hype (Aamir cant even do that anymore). We saw what happened when they had multiple releases/y, suddenly their movie average collection dropped like a rock.
Sure this one will open huge, and then fizzle out. If that is what you as fans wants from your fav star after 3y+, well good for you. Can’t wait for next comeback Dunki. There’s always a next time, right!

Even Dhoom films, Tiger films and War are borrowed from multiple others. Yet they all hit bulls eye. This multiple film excuse to hide an inability to deliver huge grossers is a perfect Akshay PR. Even with 2 films a year he can never deliver SRK or Salman’s track record at their peak or HRs between 2000-06. Ranbir is a bigger star than Akshay by now.

But is that it? As s fan, you wait 3y+ and get a Hollywood mix and match, where you clearly see Srk is not even doing the action scenes, if that makes you ecstatic as a fan, well then something clearly is wrong. Wouldn’t you want something unique/ different that really justifies the long break?
I like Akshay but the fact is he’s not doing good movies anymore. However, I would be extremely pissed if he took a 3y break and returned with a half-baked copy of Die another day Winter Soldier etc.
Ranbirs Shamshera did around 50cr, that was with a long break as well, so you cannot really say he’s bigger star. Hrithiks Vedha did less than 80 and thats after War. Its all about the complete package to get that big grosser. That explains how a crap Soryavansh did 200+ with 50% capacity.

Goes without saying that Hrithik & Tiger are a lot superior to SRK and John respectively in this genre of action/spy films but we’d need to wait for the film’s release to really know if there’s enough drama in there that caters to SRKs popular ways and if that’s what differentiates this from War.

Everyone wants their 2 mins fame. By opposing a well received teaser proves the point. As far taking break and returning with a proper commercial venture, mind you this was decided before pandemic and they shot this movie all through pandemic from 2020 to completed early 2022. The movie could have released this year if not for YRF’s huge backlog delayed co, of pandemic. Srk has moved onto other movies. Besides SRK doing an action movie makes it unique, it doesn’t matter every tom, dick harry has done an action movie. It’s Srk’s dream to do action movies and he keeps repeating on every interview but he says he don’t get much offers. Yes, if there are comparisons with WAR, it’s obvious and they want to make them part of same world and made by same team.
Also, gone is the old mentality of copying Hollywood movies to make Indian movies. They are directly hiring same action directors and making them deliver in Bollywood. For example 2 foreign action directors in Pathaan are Top Gum Maverick, Avengers End game, Ant-man Wasp, etc. Anyways, as I said they need to find something to dislike SRK. That time has gone..I wish Srk does something like Swades and meaningful, Lol. He’s going to commercial movies for next 5 years. You can ignore and be content with other stars. SRK has no interest to become Akshay kumar at this stage of his career. Na ghar ka na ghat ka…

Because my views are not based on me being fond of Akshay. Everyone is fond of one star or the other but still like movies or can have an independent opinion about a movie of ither stars.
Minor issue and am not interested to discuss this-
1. SRK is no longer a draw at box office whar he used to be just like Akshay is no longer as big a super star as he was in 2019. Howecer gice a right film and theirs will do well
Major issue is and this is where i want your view-
2. The changed public behaviour towards watching movies in theatres despite movie being good. So here when someone says Pathaan will do more than War if it is as good as War then thats not going to happen.

Only thing is that Pathaan has been missing for 3 years. So if Khalid was 10 years old when his father supposedly killed Pathaan, then Pathaan’s movie takes place when he’s 13. SRK looking his age here, tired eyes and not sure if it’s the make up or the hairstyle but something is not adding up, he looked much better in the leaked pics. However he’s giving off mob boss vibes which, if intentional, may suggest he’s more of an anti-hero or wronged villain in Pathaan. (I somehow don’t think YRF/Sid Anand think that deeply though haha). Deepika is stunning if a little too raunchy, whats with the dance step at 0:33? Trying a bit too hard to twerk hey Deeps? I like the song but agree with twitter opinions that there’s not catchy beat, this is much less party anthem and more evening melody, but theres one more song to come from Pathaan no? Maybe that’ll fit the party anthem bill.

This, to me, has to be the most vulgar song in SRK’s oeuvre. Deepika looks and behaves like a Shakeela. [If Kareena’s Ra.One item song is anything to go by.] SRK is complementing her with his unkempt, ‘braided’ looks. Still, the movie will rule the roost at the BO. All that it needs is a fast-paced screenplay and high-octane, copied or not a.k.a WAR [the Owen Wilson kidnap scene from MI3 copied lock, stock, and barrel from].

Must say that Pathaan was looking much better from the teaser, before these songs were released. YRF is just following their Dhoom/War template here, which may suit someone like Hrithik a lot but not sure how much it will gel with what Srk brings on the table.
This is an expensive production with reported budget of 250 cr. Will need 250+ cr nett total to be considered a box office hit. Hopefully it will get there, but this may turn out to be an overhyped frontloaded film.
They need a good trailer now.

The song is not bad but nothing to write home about. I’m a huge fan of 50s and 60s hindi songs, 70s was okay but you started seeing cracks and by mid 80s it was bad. Early 90s brought back some melody but the songs were pretty much all same, there was not much variation but the singers like Kumar Sanu, udit, Abhijeet were all good with distinct voice.
Now all songs and all voices sounds same.
Back to Pathaan, was it ever said by the maker that Pathaan is no-nonsense guy? I think we may be in for surprise where the character is full on masala. Think of Rohit cop universe, ajay is all serious, ranveer is goofy, akshay is somewhere between.
I think they’re going in with War/Dhoom combination (not just war).

Obviously we over react easily, including me. To compare, 2nd song reached 1 million likes in 9 hours and Besharam Rang took 47 hours. The common folks reaction is much better for this song compared to BR. I see it wasted opportunity but most of them don’t mind the song and it’s passable for many. Calling it Thugs based on average songs makes no logic. At least control your statements for the trailer… you need something to say that time too I guess, Lol.

Individual opinions on songs or trailers does not matter, nor does song views or likes in youtube or social media.
Its what the majority of cinema going audience likes that dictates the box office. I was shifting in my seat throughout Avatar 2’s 3 hr snoozefest, but some were clapping after the show and few were so emotional that they were in fact crying (despite the movie being too cheesy to move you emotionally). Anyways, this irritating film is actually going to make 1B dollars worldwide!
Point is that Pathaan cant me written off based on one or two songs being disliked by some. Its just that a Hrithik is much more of gauranteed returns in this Dhoom/War template of YRF than a Srk. But Salman gave returns in Tiger films, so Srk can also do so in Pathaan.

The feedback DOES matter and now a days all the movies are impacted just by the trailer. The songs being good or success will certainly help the momentum. Like Circus trailer was underwhelming and then 1st song was good but 2nd and 3rd song below average and that’s not helping the momentum. It will reflect in the opening.

The bigger problem right now is that movies, trailers, teasers, songs, etc are not reviewed for what it is, think of NG days, where you had little bit of this but it was due to fan war. “SRK looking OLD” is not anything new, you go back over 15 years and you can find posts in NG saying same exact thing for movies released 15, 20 years ago.
you can actually write a review of each member here on exactly what they’ll say of the trailer and movie before it releases.
To Master point, this song will most likely be in the end credit so it’s nothing more than Lungi Dance from CE. It is actually kind of stupid to see production house spend so much money for end credit song. I wish instead they would have a climax where there’s a song. Good Old Days…

They have this trend of song promotions where lead character doesn’t have songs in the movie. Both Tiger movies used the songs for promotion and were huge hits but they came in the end credits. This seems to be for same case. That is actually good thing that they think Pathaan shouldn’t be dancing ‘in’ the movie’.

We have a terrorist attack from someone called Jim, conveniently neither a hindu name nor muslim name. Someone with a christian name launching a terror attack in India and being stopped by someone with a muslim name.
If the above is true, then it seems that they have tried not to antagonise people or fans bases as much as possible. Even if it seems to come at the expense of credibility.

YRF has been increasingly spending big money on their spy films over the last decade. ETT (2012) was made with 75 cr, TZH (2017) with 150 cr and War with 170 cr. Now they have 250 cr and 350 cr invested in Pathaan and Tiger 3 respectively. Hope that these two films can pull it off like the previous ones. Then it will be interesting to see a team-up film with Srk, Salman, Hrithik, Katrina and Deepika. God only knows what the budget of such a multi-starrer will be and maybe only YRF can pull it off in Bollywood.
Otherwise, you will only get the cheaper team-up of Devgn, Akshay and Ranveer in Singham 3. If Shetty does not make S3 a proper multistarrer, he will be losing a great opportunity. Cameos of Akshay and Ranveer wont be enough.

What would cause Pathaan budget to be 80Cr higher than War?
Pathaan has Deepika but War had Tiger. SRK is a line producer in Pathaan so he keeps his fees in check.
Than what makes Tiger3 budget be 100 Cr more than Pathaan and 180 Cr more than War?
Economy hasn’t changed where the price of film making doubled in 5 years.

These are all ‘reported’ budgets though. But with returns coming in, producers tend to invest more money on upcoming films in the hope of making it bigger and better according to their terms. YRF reportedly spent 300 cr to make Samrat Prithviraj.

On a point, YRF are very tight fisted in spending big movie unless needed for the project and on the other hand, Karan Johar over spends all the time. YRF rarely overspend on their movies and big event films gets the big budgets, rest all are very low budgets with big presentations. Even their big event films appear too expensive but they have enough connections to pull this off at lower prices that most production houses. It’s not about Pathaan but any big film they do. Find unique locations and get paybacks and all that stuff. So, I wouldn’t trust reported budgets for YRF movies.
Secondly, budgets are there but all these big events will be considered flops if they collectless than 200 crores anyways. Even if they drag and do 250, they’ll be termed semi-hit and not staright hit.

The target for Pathaan and Tiger imo is 300+ cr and 350+ cr respectively. The latter is because Tiger is already an established franchise and the second Tiger film did rather well.
If these targets are reached, then the next team-up film can be really scaled up for an Avenger like movie within YRF’s spy universe. Bring in a mega villain like Aamir’s Fanaa character in the mix and then War 2 can be the biggest bollywood multistarrer film made in our times.
But first things first – Pathaan should fly high. Not just for the sake of SRK and Deepika’s comeback, but to set YRF’s Spy Universe plans into motion.

One cinema has started advance booking today for Thu 26th Jan and all evening shows are sold out. I’m waiting for Imax screening and hopefully it releases soon. I think they’ll add Wed Jan 25th shows as well.

Looks like 180cr is breakeven for Pathaan. Been told by 2 to 3 people now. Seems too less but probably they have got excellent OTT deals. Need to wait for details from authentic sources

yeah could be…90cr DS was the number mentioned so could be around 200cr also. A half decent movie and it should be around 160cr in 5 days flat.

I wud ballmark 200 cr nett for break even. Obviously the target for Pathaan is a lot more to be a Hit film.
10 years back Chennai Express was Srk’s last blockbuster hit and did 220 odd crores. Now similar amount is needed just for recovery.

It looks like Ra.One again. Srk’s highest grosser was RNBDJ around 90 crores and Ra.One did 25% better and did 115 crores and yet was not called genuine hit. Now, Pathaan needs to again do 25% higher of his highest grosser and 250 crores for it be certified clean success. Ra.One did business but couldn’t win perception battle and Pathaan will be aiming for same. Business wise it’ll make money for YRF unless it’s negative from 1st show itself.

Srk chose a high-profile, high-budget movie for his comeback by choice. So if it under-performs, it will face the perception battle for sure.
But unless the trailer coming tomorrow turns out to be underwhelming, i wont be concerned about under-performance at box office.

Looks good. Its a full action movie, should do well. 300 cr is definitely on.
Back to back Blockbusters from Sid Anand? This guy has transformed into a good action director. All the action sequences look cool here (as in War).

On the expected lines and patriotic part will be surprise here and if well presented and co-inciding with Republic Day will really boost it up. That dialogue by SRK is killer and massy at the same time for such movies. Overall too much action but maybe that’s good thing and looks to be fast paced 2 hours 25 mins movie.
Good they didn’t show Salman Khan and that’ll really surprise some mass audience who are unaware about this angle.

HR probably isnt making cameos in Pathaan or Tiger 3. YRF is saving him for bigger things like War 2 and a team-up film. They dont want to play all their cards at one go itself.
I can gaurantee one thing about this YRF Spy Universe. Hrithik’s films and appearances will tower along all other films and stars in this universe. Hrithik is plain magic in this genre. No one else comes close.
This Spy Universe may help the Khans remain relevant as they reach their sixties, but Hrithik will rule this universe. His time has come.

It is going to be a lot bigger than what Shetty can pull alone. YRF has great relations with all 3 Khans and HR too. Only they can do this. I am hearing they are planning 3 films back to back in this universe after Tiger 3. All other YRF films are failing, so if Pathaan and Tiger 3 works well, all their focus will be on this Spy Universe for next few years. Hope it all works out for them, because it will be a treat if a film materialises with the Khans and HR with proper roles in it. Not cameos in each other’s films.

Yes, that end flying sequence is tricky and difficult to pull off seamlessly, hopefully it’ll be short one.
Hrithik won’t be part of Pathaan but he’ll be mentioned ( I think). All 3 will be seen in War 2 ( title should be Kabir).

Yes, Pathaan and Tiger cameos will be there in War 2. But YRF is planning another proper team up film which will be like Avengers in the Spy Verse. Expected to release by 2026 end. War 2 probably in 2024 or 2025.

That end sequence is straight out of Civil war where that flying avenger (Falcon?) does similar stuff. They seem to have all kinds of setpieces here….the Bond one on Ice, The falcon one, the top of train fight from MI etc etc and probably the best part is the dialogues are still desi and massy to not make it very ‘English’ (like Bang Bang). All they need is a half decent story to stitch this. Ideally this should be a very easy hit now for SRK but his script sense has let us down so many times one can never say for sure.
BTW does anyone else got the feeling that Deepika might have a character twist as a villian?

This will be more of a bang for your bucks than a story oriented film. Dont expect a Jason Bourne kind of film but a Mission Impossible here. MI films are good in their genre, but not exactly great stories. This will be similar.
But yrf is good at this and Pathaan shud sail through. Extended first week will be 200+ cr (break even) and lifetime will be comfortably above 300 cr. Blockbuster loading.

Shetty’s cop universe is all about Ajay and Ajay alone. Simbaa was a remake and Sooryavanshi was a poor man’s Baby without Ajay’s whistle worthy cameo. No surprise Shetty’s proceeding with Singham 3 rather than a Simba 2 or Sooryavanshi returns.

Both Simmba and Singham brands are south remakes. Sooryavanshi is original but bland. Singham 2 was not remake and they tried to do original but it did well but was very forgettable. Singham 3 is coming after 10 years but it came in Simmba and Sooryavanshi, so it doesn’t look old franchise.

I found it at par with War trailer. Dont know why they are not coming on the 26th holiday. They are missing out on a record day one here. On national holiday it could have cracked KGF2’s opening record or have a go at it.

Actually, John is looking his best and getting looting of traction and its good that he’s giving his best effort here. Sid Anand said that John has to be stronger, better and powerful and only then Pathaan fighting him makes sense.

There was so much action in the trailer that I wonder if the audience will feel fatigued by it. If Action piece comes every 20 to 30 minutes, it’s great but if it’s like every 10 minutes then it’s a turn off. I also hope there are no scenes where it’s like a hero slow motion entry every 15 minutes.

If you can’t get IMAX, try to watch it in D-box format(which I saw War, 1st bollywood movie to release in Dbox) or ICE format (1st bollywood movie to release in ICE format).

War trailer did not have any VFX issues. It looked v slick throughout.
If a 2 min trailer exposes VFX issues then its not a good thing for the movie.
Anyways, I am expecting a War like initial 5 day weekend (165 cr) and then similar week to week trending. A similar total like War (320 cr) shud be the target here.

If Pathaan folds up under 200 Cr its the end of spy verse even before it begins. Tiger 3 and War 2 might become individual entities then with War 2 having a possibility of being shelved.

Even if Pathaan just does break even business (~200 cr), Spy Universe will happen. Tiger 3 and War 2 are not planned based on Pathaan’s expected success, but on the strength of previous Blockbusters in ETT, TZH and War.
If Pathaan does not do well, the team up film may not happen, nor will Pathaan 2. But War 2 will happen anyways. Likh lo.

Its not like all films have to be blockbusters for a franchise to keep rolling. MCU had delivered flops in Incredible Hulk, Black Widow, Eternals. Yet Eternals sequel is being developed and MCU is still going strong. Closer home Dabanng 3 was a flop, but they are still going forward with Dabanng 4.
YRF is indeed trying to boost Pathaan’s prospects with Salman cameo and announcement of Spy Universe. But Pathaan success or failure is not everything for their future plans. SRK’s future in the franchise may get affected, thats all.

SRK was best part of Brahmastra and the best shot scene in entire movie was his SRK death scene. This is the second Ranbir movie where SRK steals the show with couple minutes role.
Tiger and War will be made regardless of what happens to Pathaan. Tiger and War both made lots of money to not have a sequel.
Bollywood is not stable at all.
How many here thought Shetty Cirkus would be a disaster?
Some thought it may not do well but nobody thought it would be like this.
Same with Pathaan, it can also be a disaster like Cirkus.

Pathaan has just 2 weeks then we have Shehzada, Ant-man, Selfie etc as every week release. It has to do whatever it can in 2 weeks and rest will be just 5% . Anyways action movies are front loaded and should be fine.
