Imran Khan in Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Milan Talkies

After Matru Ki Bijli Ka Mandola, Imran Khan has signed up for yet another challenging role. This time round, he will be seen playing the role of a U.P. boy in Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Milan Talkies, a film that revolves around a small town cinema hall where Imran not only works, but also moonlights as a film pirate by shooting illegal videos of the films that are being screened there. The film will be produced by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Motion Pictures.

While confirming the news, Tigmanshu said that Imran Khan is indeed doing the film and they will start shooting around January 2013. When we spoke to Tanuj Garg, CEO- Balaji Motion Pictures, he said, “Yes, Imran has been confirmed for the film, and the lead actress will be finalized within a month’s time.”

  1. i dunno what Bharadwaj and Dhulia have seen in Imran- he seems to have been completely miscast in both the films. And even worse is the fact that he is playing a gangster in the sequel to OUATIM- but let’s see, he may surprise us-but first Dhulia has SBAG 2 releasing this year (apart from the original cast, Irrfan and Soha are also there)

    • If Emran could surprise us in Shanghai and Shahid in Kaminey- Imran could surprise us in MKBKM as well- give the poor guy a chance. I’m not too pessimistic about MKBKM because VB has a knack of making his actors perform much above their usual calibre. And I like the idea of his pairing with Anushka as well.

I am not looking forward to OUATIM 2 though- Akshay and Imran are very mismatched for a two hero film and Imran as a legendary Don is a difficult idea to buy. But nice to see that he’s not playing it safe with his rom-com niche and he’s trying to challenge himself with different roles.

  2. As i said, i am ready to give him a chance (he was not too bad in EMAET). And agreed on VB- but anyway i have always Hashmi and Shahid vastly better than Imran. In OUATIM 2, leave Imran even Akshay seems a complete misfit doing a role which Devgn did superbly and which is getting a cult following of sorts

  3. This is interesting……very brave from Imran…hope they are low budget films because Imran has so far had a loverboy role….very similar to how Aamir started out

Actually saw a few minutes of EMET–Imran khan was fine there
    ESP in his ‘meltdown’ scene…
The other point is that the ‘awkward passively dependent’ guy in EMET fits his real life persona
“small town cinema hall where Imran not only works, but also moonlights as a film pirate by shooting illegal videos of the films that are being screened there”– this fits the imran with an ‘e’ (much) more…

Question-whose eyebrows are denser–Imran khan or Kajols
Ps-Kajols uni-brow is still intact nowadays unlike the ones of Kareena/karisma –the latter two went for a ‘package deal’ it seems to get it ‘corrected’…

  6. Salman’s interview in Screen, look how patronising he seems to be towards The Dirty Picture and heroine centric films-
Since you mentioned watching films in theatres, any of the talked about films that you watched recently? ‘The Dirty Picture’, ‘Kahaani’, ‘Vicky Donor’?
The last two months have been very busy so I haven’t seen too many films but my parents watched ‘Vicky Donor’ and loved it. I did watch ‘The Dirty Picture’ though.
And what did you think of it? Has it changed the equation for heroines in a male-dominated industry?
It did really well so it’s a good film but not my kind of film. They (heroine-centric films) do okay na? Small budget films — `5 crore films which make `7-8 crore become hits. If you make a `100 crore film and it makes a profit of `6-8 crore, then it’s no fun. You have to be careful about the budget. For entire interview, follow the link-

Hmm–Time for ‘ young upcomin dashing stars’ like satyam to fill the ‘void’ …
Also to ‘discipline’ the likes of kareena…
And to show Imran khan fangirls the ‘real stuff’ 🙂

Completely agree- Bollywood definitely more ‘young, dashing, upcoming’ male movie stars.

BTW- Kareena has gone to Turkey and become a ‘size zero’ again (and proclaimed to the world that she has everybody’s dream body and anyone who doesn’t want her figure is talking nonsense). 😛

      • Is there a connection between going to Turkey and becoming ‘size zero’? 🙂

I know a lot of people find Kareena’s diva-act, self promotion and loudmouthedness infuriating, I find them hilarious for their brazen stupidity and the pride with which they are displayed. Whenever I see her interviews (or even otherwise), I always wonder what must be going through her head- the supreme self confidence that can only come after convincing oneself the impossibility of one not being the best in anything, the complete lack of awareness, the guileless me-ism, the sledgehammered sycophancy- well Kareena is fascinating!!!

I am proud to be India’s size zero: Kareena Kapoor

Bollywood diva Kareena Kapoor, who imported the size-zero fad in the country, says she is proud to be the “Indian size zero”, which means being really slim.

“I think in India, size zero means being slim. Every girl wants to be really slim and I think I am quite slim. India’s size zero is associated with me and I am proud of that,” said Kapoor.

The 27-year-old actress was in the city to launch size zero laptop models by Sony Vaio and her slim figure was what connected her to the product.

“I only lend my name to a brand that is suitable to my personality type. Vaio X is slim, stylish and sexy, something that I easily relate with,” said Kareena, who has often denied being the size zero according to international standards.

Kareena hit headlines when she lost eight kilos to acquire a bikini body for 2007 film ‘Tashan’. Though the film failed to create any magic at the box office, Kareena’s thin figure became the talk of the town, sparking the whole size zero trend in India

        • Is she 27? I thought she had turned 30 sometime ago. On non-bollywood note: Obesity is on rise in india (as well) in middle class population. TV dinners are common, driving around in 2 wheeler instead of walking etc. During my recent visits, I was shocked to see how younger generation is growing “big”. Though I have yet to see morbit obese person in India and majority of people I saw look a lot like Nawazuddin-skinny…the rickshaw drivers etc. Even though Ms Kareena sounds stupid and makes outregeous comments, she is laughing all the way to bank..a la Jessica Simpson….

        • Well-put Matrix- you’ve accurately summed up why I’m usually indulgent towards Kareena’s crazy statements. But I find her whole Size-Zero propaganda to be very harmful so this is the one aspect of her stupidity that does not amuse me.
