Mrs. Chatterjee versus Norway:

A fine but simplistic film, that does make sense in the way Rani’s character of an all-pleasing Debika – a universal galatic force that can take on her husband’s abuses and the challenges of her 2 young kids [which she thinks she is], goes for a toss when any quantity of Bengali Chai or sweets doesn’t satisfy the Nordic ‘high-standards’ of bringing up one’s kids. The Indian style? A pariah: Especially eating with your hands: The whities don’t want us eating with our hands, or wiping with our hands. Yet there is Salmonella, GERD, XXXXXX…list goes on. The Rishi Munishs must have done something right no, living under all weather conditions, barely surviving on tree-heated food, and drinking water from the holy waters. But somehow, spoons, forks, matter to these guys even if one is eating an idli, a wada, a dosa or whatever. Quite funny.
